So, let some more battle ground be found as Sky looks to start TV Web Portal and IPTV.

Plans for TV Web Portal via your digibox:

Sounds like we may have a better alternative soon!

Having said that we need to watch out for costs... how much Sky will ask for subscription...

They service Sky have announced in their press releases really isnt TV over broadband its a download service. They will allow subscribers to certain packages to download movies and sports highlights. The customer will need an existing broadband connection and will only be able to view the content on their PC.

Telewest however have announced something closer. They are launching 4 internet channels that can be streamed from their portal offering content from entertainment channels such as trouble etc. You can still only view this on your PC but unlike Sky's plans you dont have to download the whole thing first.

Who knows what sky will do in the future, but without a constant return path to their stb's they cannot offer true VOD to your TV.

Well if you integrate your PC monitor with your TV screen, then the difference is not a lot really.

Also VOD in HC is still quite limited. It's a pity HC does not make full use of this advantage.
