dunno, but he was wrong about something (first time ever i think!) babbage invented the "difference engine" not whatever it was roy called it tonight.

Babbage did indeed create the difference engine but this was (as Roy Cropper quite rightly pointed out) the 'predecessor' to the modern computer.
Also as a note I think that the comment he made was regards to ridicule given to Stephenson when he suggested the idea of building the start of the modern railway system. |
