A look back at the incident which made Big Brother One a hit.
It has been building obviously now for a long time, and at around 11am,
while many offices were watching a storm brewing on Big Brother, there was a transmission cut from the live feed. This cut did not last long, but then there was mass confusion as people tried to figure out what was unfolding be fore their eyes. It looked as if the group had found out all about Nasty Nick's Nomination Naughtiness. The group were sat around the table in an emergency meeting called for by Craig due to the fact that Darren had asked Craig about what Nick was doing, and the two then asked Tom and later the rest of the group, unbeknown to Nick. After much 'should I or shouldn't I', Darren took a look in Nick's briefcase, and found pieces of paper and a pencil. Big brother contestants are not allowed any writing utensils unless they are provided for use in a task - and even then they must be used only for the task and returned upon completion of the task. The warned penalty for disobeying this house rule is instant eviction, but would Big Brother carry this out? Back to the table, and Craig is confronting Nick about what is happening. He is trying to get Nick to confess that he has cheated, but Nick is not giving in that easily. Darren steps in to help Craig and offers to go and get the suitcase. Even though Nick now says 'Leave it, it's my private stuff in there' Darren walks off and Tom covers his mouth with his hands - either shocked or pleased with the interrogation. Darren returns, dumping the suitcase on the kitchen worktop and pulling out slips of paper and a pencil. Nick has no choice now but to confess, and soon after is called into the diary room, where he is reminded of the rules, and asked to explain himself. Big Brother will probably always ask contestants for a reason as to why they did any action in breech of the house rules - not just for audience ratings but to make sure they gave the contestant a chance to explain themselves for legal reasons. Nick is now told to pack his bags. He will be picked up from the back gate at 3pm. And he was. In almost as secretive a fashion as Nick Bateman entered the Big Brother house, he left it - in a black limousine with blacked out windows. The only difference is that Nick seemed to have learnt his lesson. The thoughtful, cheery middle-aged-man was now nothing but a sad, upset shell. The house was now a cheat free zone, or at least that is what we knew to be the truth. The group were left wondering who the replacement would be. In the event of unforeseen evictions, Big Brother rules state that a replacement will enter the house as soon as possible, and that they will be immune from eviction for one week, but will also not be allowed to nominate. The replacement must not talk about the outside world, how big Big Brother is, or anything which has happened in the outside world. Nick Bateman: "If you live by the sword, you die by the sword." That incident was excellent. It made my year (do I sound that sad?)
I though that everyone hating Nick seemed unfair because if you were told that you have to double cross people you met just 3 weeks previously to win £70,000 I think that most people would. He was a man who went to play a game with a strategy and it nearly paid off. Weldone him I think for coming up with the idea then the guts to carry it out in the house. Mike |

One bad thing about that incident was that Nick then thought he was an A-list celeb, which he wasn't, and then made that awful, awful TV show.
That incident alone though made BB1 and there wasn't any of that in BB2. |

I think the problem with Big Brother two (and this could also be a problem with BB3) is that they are living in luxury. Who has a heated pool at thier house; it's hardly basic.
In big brother one, they had beds, a kitchen, a garden, a table, a diary room and couches. That was about it, and it made for very entertaining viewing. Big Brother 2 had a hot tub near the bathroom, a jaccuzi in the garden, and everything was much more plush. Big Brother 3 will be interesting - almost everything has changed this time - the whole design of the house. The inclusion of stairs is an interesting thing too, as it removes the feeling that the housemates are living in a bungalow. Mark. |

i remember seeing the confrontation of Nick live on the web, was very entertaining
![]() I think the problem is that people expect and want the same thing that happens the year before to happen this year. Before BB2 started everyone was saying it couldnt be better because of what happened in the first one, but many people were mistaken and found BB2 to be better. Now some people might be thinking BB3 cant offer anymore, but i bet soon it will seem a lot better than BB2. |

Deffo Nick getting found out. It was excellent - drama of the highest kind.
As for BB2, Brian bitching at Josh was excellent even though he was out of order. Looking forward to BB3. |

I completely agree! I think it was around about the time that E4 turned it's live feeds on (remember it took a few days before starting) and I was watching thinking 'cool this is really live' then all of a sudden there was this big bitching session going on. It was great! The Amma vs Stewart argument was also quite good although not quite the same! I also found Brian's birthday games (was it strip 'pick up the box with your teeth' or something) hilarious (were they just before the Amma/Stuart bust-up?) and also Helen getting drunk and emotional. My mum walked in at the point she came out of the diary room crying her eyes out and was like 'oh no, what's wrong with her? Is she hurt?' I was like 'no, she's just drunk!' Another moment that I thought was great (from the live feeds that I did watch) was when Bubble pretended to have a big fight with someone (I think it was Brian) and pretended he was really hurt. And then they were chasing Helen and Narinder around with something and scaring them. Very funny! Anyway, I won't include any more moments just now - I'll end up remembering so many that they won't fit on here, lol!
