...well, not even a spoiler would be appropriate but the CHRISTMAS EVE special hour-long special of DOCTOR WHO has a very RTD slant on Santa.

Unless the script treatment recently seen is one of those "gig red herrings"?

Do you reckon that Santa will be the token gay bloke that RTD includes in his dramas? I sure hope so!!

Some men would relish the though of a bearded fella entering their room and unloading his sack.

Christmas Eve? Where did you get that from? Even RTD has stated that the transmission date is unlikely to be fixed until a few days before transmission.

Christmas TV guides come out a few weeks in advance, so it would be confirmed a few weeks in advance.

I would expect nothing less than the Christmas Day slot usually filled by "The nth Last Ever" Only Fools And Horses.

Excellent! Cue outraged retired colonels choking on mince pies and brandy while composing letters to the Times - unless, of course, any possible innuendos from RTD go straight over their heads, which is always possible

not necessarily. Most of the TV Guides come out with loads of "TBAs" in them. The main channels like to keep their final schedules quiet for as long as possible.

I don't know if the Christmas Eve transmission date is true or not, but it is a Saturday this year, and 7pm would be spot on, don't you think?

Well in that case...

I would prefer it to be Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day, actually. I'm not saying we never have the TV on on Christmas Day but I do feel it's a day for family being together and doing other things.

If Christmas Eve is a Saturday, it would seem a logical piee of scheduling, though.

Mrs Santa Clause becomes a goddess for the darlics, when she exterminates Santa with a special laset gun, after he tells her that he has been having an affair with Jessica Rabbit (otherwise known as the easter bunny) but with christmas cancelled, earth becomes full of riots etc.. so Billie Piper decides to fly down to earth, and release a double A side single to cheer people up. its called "Because we want to" but it does not work, so DR Who must try and resurect Santa, save his marriage, kill ten thousand darlics, fight a robot mutant turkey, and save christmas once more.
Oh my aching sides! What are "darlics" by the way?

I think it's a Dalek that's eaten some garlic, just to make it *really* lethal

I don't mean the ones in the papers that come out at the end of October (or sooner )

But the "proper" TV-mags, like the TV Times, WATV etc. tend to be on the shelves, with the full listings, the first week in December

Meanwhile, the official site has a new screensaver up, which features a countdown to the Christmas Invasion - but not, they hasten to add, to the actual episode itself, as "no one knows when the actual episode goes out", so it counts down to midnight on December 25.

The screensaver features stills from the entire series - whereas the previous one stopped chronologically with the nightclub singer at the beginning of TEC I think, this goes right through to somewhere around Barcelona, or at least "new teeth".

They're also redesigning the site and putting loads of extra stuff up over the next few weeks (for anyone who really has got through every single clip on there several times already ). And they have some extra audio downloads, including "Before I go, I just want to tell you you were fantastic" - for anyone who really wants an ego boost on their Windows shutdown, in which case you'll need the WAV format - and no, mine's still playing the theme tune
BBC DW downloads

Can we now call a truce on picking up each others minor spelling mistakes, methods of format etc?

Sorry, Den, I wasn't aware I'd ever picked you up on your spelling.

That just about sums up Christmas in my family ... an hour of blissful quality time sandwiched between unrelenting misery, depression and despair
