M C is talented and has an amazing voice but she doesn't see that trying to compete with the industrys new 16+ honeys doesn't become her.
Plus so-called R&B or urban style doesn't really do justice to her voice - just listen to an album like the Unplugged set and you'll see the real talent come out.

She's either mis-marketed at teenage urban/rap fans or she has not accepted at her age she can do more 'grown up' music.

This isn't a anti M C rant, just the thoughts of somebody who liked her first five albums but gave up afterwards.

I got her last album for £3 from fopp. What a waste of money.

Glitter was also a waste, as was Rainbow.

The woman needs to give up.

I'd rather see the decapitation of Mimi.

It's not Mariah's music that offends me, it's her. I can't bare to watch her on the tele being interviewed, too false and arrogant, awful big headed woman.

And if these 'Diva' stories are to be believed that make her even worse.
I only really like "Hero" and "Without you"

thats what makes her intresting. She's quite funny, espically when she admits to airbrushing and slates how everyones having it done from 12 to 40 in the industry.
She is full of her self but her music is good, im liking the new song 'We belong together'.

Anyone know her best position in the album charts.

She had incredible vocals on her first few albums up to "Daydream" but after that she started to get far too self-indulgent when it came to her delivery. Some of her stuff past that album sounds plain awful and her vocals were just incredibly rubbish on several tracks.

However, with this LP she's really turned it around and continues to deliver some belting vocals reminiscent of her earlier work. Against all the odds she's managed to make it back to the top and you gotta respect her for it. I think she's pretty funny when being interviewed. She's very saracastic alot of the time and I guess many people just don't appreciate the humour of it but I think she's pretty great. "We Belong Together" is a very strong ballad and "It's Like That" was just such a jam. The voice is back.

I might get some of her past albums, anyone got any reviews. I've read that musicbox and rainbow are the best 2 albums of hers.

She certaintly can admit what wrongs, its good when an artist can critise themselves etc.

And shes experienced as she writes some songs herself and can produce.

Anyone see her mtv film award performance? If so what did you think. It was a bit weak. And she was on the same event as eminem.

Don't get "Rainbow". It's pretty crappy if you ask me, although it did really well commercially. "Music Box" is good for that classic 90's-Mainstream sound and has some stunning tracks on it - but it's mainly ballads which may put you off. "Daydream" is another classic from the 1990's and it strikes a good balance between Uptempo and Ballads. It's also great because it was a step toward her R&B/Urban sound but it doesn't take that sound too far. "Butterfly" is another great album and it's probably her strongest straight-out R&B album to date.

I would get "Music Box" and "Butterfly" or "Daydream".

So should I be prepared to give 'emancipation' a try?

The studio album I most liked was Music Box.

I won't pretend otherwise, "Emancipation" is a very R&B/Urban fuelled album as you'll probably have gathered from the 2 singles. I have downloaded about 6 of the tracks I liked the sound of from iTunes. Perhaps you should try something simmilar and then decide if you want to get the rest of the album. I like what I've downloaded so far and I'm pleased to say her vocals are back on form.

All of her albums before Rainbow are excellent.

Everything after that are not worth the cd they are recorded onto.

Better as a coaster.

I wouldn't be surprised if she can "co-produce", i.e. stand around in the control room saying "oooo, that sounds pretty, press that again!"

I thought she was OK at Live8 but only OK. I really like "Make it Happen" but I don't think she did the song justice. She sounded slightly flat ( ) on alot of that, which from her is just so, so rare. She pulled it back with "We Belong Together", though. I personally feel that she HATES performing her older material because it wasn't what she wanted to do then and it isn't now either. That might have something to do with it - her heart probably wasn't really in it.

I was worried when the music started and she didn't come on stage. I thought she might have had some kind of emotional episode or something! She was probably just pushing the people back stage through thier paces, lol. I find it funny to think of the absoloute chaos she probably causes all around her - and the best bit it she's probably kind of oblivious to all the mayhem she likely causes. lol, very funny.

I thought she was overall good on Live8, though, don't get me wrong. It was really nice to see her perform. I wanted to see her on "Richard and Judy" last night, but I missed it! Did anyone see it and what was she like?
