I think this is one of the best songs ever written both lyrically and musically.

I hope they choose it as a single.

What does everyone else think

It is gorgeous....maybe not the best song ever written, but it is lovely.

Got to be a single, it's the best song on the album!

Easily the best on the album, and it worked really well live at Glastonbury.

It's no 'The Scientist' though.

I've never had much regard for Coldplay before this, but as the album was so popular I thought I'd try it.

I definately have to buy it. It is a must.

It is meant to be the next single.

Talk and What If are the higest candidates for singles after that.

Fix You isn't going to win over the Coldplay haters though, with what is a good 2 minutes of Church-style organ and Chris doing Falsetto

I had got a bit bored with Coldplay but after seeing Fix You on Glastonbury, I'm going to buy the new album next week.

What a great song - up there with Everything's not Lost

I presume If you go to the press before release and say you've made a "tribute" track to Kraftwerk, you can get away with nicking their tunes.
Can anyone tell me if the album songwriting credits for this song are listed as Martin/Hutter/Schnieder/Bartos/Flur??

According to Wikipedia at www.wikipedia.org it'll be the next single off the album.

It is definitely one of their best, though, Fix You was a stand out from the start for me.

Yes it is

Well, Berryman/Buckland/Champion/Martin/Hutter/Bartos/Schult

and it also says later on: "X5 contains elements of the composition "Computer Love" by Kraftwerk"

And Chris wrote Hutter a letter in German asking to use the riff before hand as well.

I think Low is the best song on the album. The U2-inspired White Shadows and Square One are also top tunes. None of these are what people would consider classic Coldplay, which is probably why I like them and am not ashamed to be enjoying their new album, allowing the other songs to grow on me.

BTW, the best song ever is Street Spirit by Radiohead.

Agree with the Everything's Not Lost comparison (in a good way!) And also agree it was the stand out track from early on. Surprised they didn't play it on Later - hope it'll make Live 8.

I think X&Y is stronger than Rush of Blood overall, but does anyone else miss those really gentle but not-soppy ones of Parachutes? Sparks is still one of my absolute favourites. I love U2 so won't complain that much of the album sounds like them, but a little more simple, gentle Coldplay would be nice...

I certainly agree!

Fix You is indeed the next single; they filmed the video for it at their Bolton concerts last week. I was there on the Tuesday night, and the atmosphere was incredable when they started playing the song, it looks like its going to turn into a classic Coldplay live song, like In my Place is.

I think though, I still prefer The Scientist in terms of emotion, plus the video still hits me like a brick

It is a really good song, and I think X&Y is much better than A Rush of Blood to the Head which I found disappointing, but What If is my favourite track so far, although I haven't got into the album properly yet.

Yeah, I really like 'Fix You', good choice of single too I think.

Unrelatedly, I listened to 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' last night and found it wasn't quite as good as I'd remembered, which is a shame.
