I was at Hyde Park & for me it was-
U2- the show had only been on 10 mins & was already in tears! Scissor Sisters- My top band, was fantastic to hear a new track from them, really went with the feel of the day as well. Robbie- In my opinion got the best reaction of the day, the place just seemed to erupt at the mention of his name! Top class performance, remined me of Knebworth all over again! Snoop dogg- How funny, thats all i can say! |

As for floyd well what can I say, I thought they were brilliant. Had goosebumps when they dine Comfortably Numb. I also enjoyed Sting

I missed Coldplay, and wish I hadn't.
Dido and Youssou N'Dour were one of the top acts for me. I might have to rethink my "I'm not a Dido fan" stance now. ![]() Ms Dynamite did very well. So did Joss Stone. Always delighted to see Annie Lennox. Razorlights were excellent. So were REM. Great to hear UB40 again. Also enjoyed Maroon 5 and Rob Thomas. The Who and Pink Floyd were just incredible. But the most exciting thing for me was to see Stevie Wonder speaking and performing. Brilliant.

i think it would be quicker to list those who didn't appeal - most of the performances were pretty good i thought.
i think the absolute highlight for me, even tho' i'm not a fan at all, was sting's reworking of every breathe you take - just seemed to encapsulate what the day was all about - letting the G8 know that we're watching them, are more informed than ever before about their economic and political shortcomings, and want them to do something about it. I think all of them did very well!!! But a few stood out like Annie Lennox, Mariah - who I never actually liked but she really did do well!! And the African Children's Choir...They were fab! See them at the end tring to take over lol.
Did and Youssou Ndor were also great. |

I did hear her singing live briefly on the TV a while ago and I thought her voice was weak compared to her recordings and on Live8 I thought she sang a bit flat. I really want to buy her new Live in Brixton DVD. Can anyone recommend it?

No contest.
Pink Floyd were the stars followed closely by the Who. I wrote this about the Floyd in another thread.. I recorded most of it and I am watching it today. Did the Who only perform two numbers? "Who are you" and "Won't get fooled again?" My Sky+ missed a bit due to no signal and I don't know how much it missed. The break came when Jonathon Ross was talking to Joe Whiley and Ferne Cotton so I didn't think I had missed any of the actual show. They were scheduled to do Baba Riley and Behind Blue Eyes according to the BBC listings. |

Pink Floyd were sensational, easily the best act on the night followed by The Who. Sting was good as well, great hearing Driven to tears, thing was he just played Police tracks and I'm sure he knows of 2 other blonde men that could have played with him....
Comfortably Numb - WOW!! |
