Bananarama are back.
Bananarama, originally a trio of girls active in the 1980s, were one of the most successful girl groups in history and are back as a duo with a new single, Move in my direction out later this month. When I say successful I mean in terms of records sold and number of top ten hits etc. I make no comment on quality.
I have seen the video and the two girls are looking better than they did 20 years ago first time around. I'm not sure about the song, but then Bananarama were never about great music. ![]() I apologise if this is old news or if Bananarama have already released other singles recently that I missed. ![]() This is great news for those nostalgic for cheesy 1980s music. |

Well best of luck to them.If Bananarama can do well then it may see the return of some more no-nonsense pop music to the charts instead of the likes of Crazy Frog.

God nooooo!!!!!! There is enough musical shite around at the moment without these pointless, talentless ******* resurrecting themselves and trying to cash in. Sigh...I actually woke up in a good mood this morning too!

As someone who liked Banarama in their hey day in the Siobhan days (Cruel Summer, Na Na Na Na etc) and have their Deep Sea Skiving album as my most embarrassing buy ever (I was only about 11 though!), I most definitely don't want them back!!!!!
We can only be grateful (!) that the Spice Girls overtook them as the most successful girl group ever. What a dubious honour...

Saw them at Party In The Park, singing there classic Venus.
I agree, their new song isn't like their 80's stuff. |

I don't see the point of calling themselves "Bananarama". They've completely ditched everything that made them stand out and opted to copy every other generic pop act around at the moment.
The new song is bland and unoriginal. |

Nooooo!!!
Do they still sing in that unexpressive deadpan voice all singing the melody line at once so you can't tell what shite singers they are? Defintely a band every bit as good as their name. If the new one is a new one you can bet your boots the next one will be either a pop classic cover version or a rehash of one of their 80s 'songs'. Kill me now.. |
