Almost a David Tennant alert...
Gary of Beeston
05-07-2005
Having spotted him in the teaser last Saturday, and having checked on Imdb that it was him, I was about to post that Doc 10 will be appearing in a repeat of the wonderful Foyle's War this Saturday.

Except he won't be, because it isn't on (certainly not in Yorkshire, anyhow).

Why show the teaser, why, why??

I live in scotland and sometimes in out TV guide it advertises something, but it only airs in England and wales, then again at the same time some times the film shown only in scotland.

I've got to admit that despite my best efforts (daily marathons of 'classic' DW) I'm having severe withdrawals from the programme. I've watched the regeneration scene so many times I can count the pimples on DT's cheeks.

Off to dig out my Casanova DVD as I need another dose of the Scottish one.

Oh gosh, me too on the withdrawals - and can't afford digibox thingy right now either . I'm sure La G will have something to say about slurring of DT's good cheek character, however.

Also tempted to find Casanova tape here (DVD to be purchased as soon as someone gives me some work, honest, honest! No really, it is at the top of my list, I'm just feeling rather over-rested with the 'resting', bank balance-wise). However have huge pile of unmarked blank tapes to go through before I find my quarry, so will probably carry on watching old Blackadder DVDs as they're on the top, in between DW ones.

Anyone see him in the repeat of the Quatermass Experiment playing a doctor?

Although I had seen it before, I decided to watch specifically to see the new Doctor acting.

As well as Casanova and The Quatermass Experiment you can see the beautifully pimpled and dimpled one in "The Actor" from the "People Like Us" series, the film "Bright Young Things" and "Takin' Over The Asylum". I would not wish to comment upon how many of these are in my possession

Oh yes, I forgot about Bright Young Things. They did make him up wth very large, scary eyes again though.

I never saw DT in anything before Casanova, but was instantly struck by just how damned good he was on all counts. I'm very relieved he's taken over from CE, and I know he will do an excellent job.

I'll Google for 'Blackpool' and see if it takes my fancy.

I'd definitely go along with all of that - I do miss CE, but feel our Doctor is in very safe hands with DT.

I have most of Blackpool on tape - somewhere! - did actually manage to find Casanova and start rewatching last week, and it is truly excellent. Blackpool was the first thing I'd seen DT in, but it took me a while to twig that it was indeed him when viewing Casanova, due to thoroughly convincing Estuary accent

I expect you've already found these links if you're googling, but Amazon are doing Blackpool DVD for £14.99 available August 1, BBC Blackpool site, imdb page for Blackpool.

David Tennant has a fairly big part in the A Lesson In Murder episode of Foyle's War. When I read the initial post in this thread I checked my recordings and that is the one I have without any interferrance. I tried to record all of them from ITV3 via Freeview and something almost always seemed to corrupt the signal, except for this episode which is why I kept it. Watched it this morning and agree, DT looked great - those eyes!

This episode is scheduled for Friday, 22nd July at 8.30pm on ITV1 (at least in the Granada area).

The other night, on an old tape, I found a copy of The Deputy which DT was in a few years ago with Warren Clarke and Dervla Kirwen. I'll have to watch it again to remind myself if it was any good.

Not exactly a regular viewer of Blue Peter since the days of Janet Ellis, and even then I should have better, but this Wednesday (17 August), David Tennant will be on the show if anyone's interested .... 5pm, by the way

Very sorry but only just spotted your question. He was one of the assistants in the office of the Deputy (Warren Clarke) I think. I will re-watch it very soon and post a more useful reply .....
