Not a great fan of Ayumi Hamasaki as I've always found her a bit manufactured. She is growing on me though. I saw her performance on the Japanese New Year concert and thought it was the best I've seen from her and she appears to be moving away from the 'Japanese Britney' image.

For Japanese singers I much prefer Chihiro Onitsuka or UA, who are more 'genuine' artists.

The Japanese Amazon site is probably a good place to start looking for CDs and I believe they deliver to the UK. It also has an English language option.

Not that big a fan either, but I really like Kahimi Karie and take your point about buying J-Pop, its a very expensive business. I have had some luck with ebay but the other place was amazon.co.uk's z shops section. you get some used cds in there sometimes that are a v good price. A friend visited her home town recently and brought back a CD I asked her to look out for from Tower in Tokyo. Even doing that it came to £18.

I like Ayu, she may come across a little bit manufactured however she does write her own music.

I love Ayu & Hikari also. I do find most of her old stuff unlistenable though as it all sounds the same.

Regarding buying J-pop, has anyone tried Yes Asia? Ya can buy the "Overseas Versions" which often equate to £10 ~ £13 an Album... I got My Story by Ayu for about £12 which includes the DVD...
