Max: ".....they [Endemol?] probably thought you an me’d....get on eventually..."

Craig: "In my opinion...and this sounds harsh. But like...but my like grandad and like great grandparents dint die to protect our way of life to have it then just....

[Sound muted for 34 seconds while Max and Ant look both surprised and amused by what Craig is saying]

Craig: "....and we’ll never be dominated because we would die to the last man standing [Ant laughs]...I pick my gun(?)...I’m proud of my country...

Ant: "Engerlaannd....."

Craig: "...and you will not destroy us..."

[All smiling, laughing and all began chanting ENGERLAAND, ENGERLAAND, ENGERLAAND, ENGERLAAND, ENGERLAAND, ENGERLAAND marching around the living room]

Ironically as they are doing this, the "To Evict Max" banner with phone number comes on-screen!

[Few minutes later in the kitchen]

Craig: "Anthony? Anthony...you hungry? [lowers voice, almost whispering as Science is nearby]...cook us some English chips...with Mayonnaise...English style. [Starts making food] Tell you what you wouldn’t believe how pat...patriotic I was when I come outta here. Facking love my country. Y’know when you watch these shows and people slate yer England. I hate that......Northeners are very patriotic aren’t they?

Ant: "Aye"

Craig: "Moreso than Southerners I reckon"

Ant: "Dya think?"

Craig: "Oh, Northerners...."

[interrupted by yelp from Max]

Ant: "Northerners are more patriotic than Southerners"

Craig: "They are..."

Craig: "They are, because they’re not used to growing up in a society of many different cultures."

That is TERRIBLE, and i bet it doesnt get shown tonight! Its so unnacceptable. What is the number for channel 4? I dont usually agree with people calling in to complain but this is really offensive.

Why is is considered a negative thing to be pround to be English though - when it's OK to celebrate being Scottish, Welsh or Irish? I know several people who have been really slammed as racist for celebrating St George's day and for saying they were proud to be English.

Though I don't condone the get em out phrase AT ALL! I just get sad when you can't be proud of your country.

There are enough anti Max straws on this board to permanently cripple the entire camel species around the world.

Because of the broadcasting code, we will never know if Craig (or anyone else) makes racist comments according to that standard. We can make educated guesses on the basis of what reasons BB usualy have for masking the sound, but we'll never really know.

I think that it is sad that pride in one's country is found only amongst these dolts, probably because these dolts put the rest of us off.

Patriotism should not mean xenophobia. Being xenephobic is not patriotic. Xenophobia damages, rather than strenghtens, countries.

I think Craig and the like should learn a lesson from this statue, which bears the words of someone who has learnt from war.

Is it offensive to be proud of your Country? I could not see anything in your message that could be construed differently. I am English and proud of it and I am sure the French, Scots, Welsh, Zimbabweans or whatever are all proud too. Why do people try to look for underlying motives when in reality, there is nothing said that most of us have not said at some point in our lives.

the point is the implied xenophobia, and consequent suggestions about what may have been siad durring the sound dips. You can love your country, without having to hate other cultures.

Not really: Craig’s rant about grandfathers defending the country at the very least has to be an attack on multiculturalism - I can't think of any more innocent explanation, can you?

Craigs views are not the problem , as everyone has a DEMOCRATIC right to have , and express views about anything they like . the REAL problem is when a company producing a 'reality ' show stops the viewers from hearing them . that is the outrage !!!!!!

There are many British/English people from various cultures who are patriotic to The UK/England.
