There's nothing wrong with being patriotic! I'm patriotic... but I'm not racist. That conversation seems to infer that to be patriotic you have to be racist. It's disgusting.

I'm proud of our country, I'm proud that it's becoming less racist (slowly), I'm proud that racism is seen as disgusting, I'm proud of the rich and various cultural influences we have here now.

Considering they all went on and on about ENGLISH FOOD, I bet they all eat regularly in Indian and Chinese restaurants and take-a-ways. Apart form anything else... chips originated in France!!! (Hence American's calling them French Fries).

Well I think it's a good thing to be proud of what your fellow compatriots have acheived, past and present.
And I did feel proud to be British when I heard the news that we got the London Olympic bid.
All that's good and healthy I think. It's more about feeling good about your fellow countrymen.

But when it gets a bit nationalistic, and jingositic, then that's when it becomes less about the positives, and more about pointing out the negatives of people who aren't the same nationality as you.

Craig's rant was about putting other people down, by stating that English was best, and better than everyone else.
It was about superiority, and as we know already, Craig only tends to gain comfort and security when he's being extremely unpleasant about others, putting them down and making them miserable.
I doubt that Craig has suddenly decided to be a generous considerate person all of a sudden.

He appears to think that to be loyal to somebody or something, then you have to prove that loyalty by viciously slagging someone else off.
That seems to be his understanding of how you show your loyalty. He has shown this behaviour time and time again in the house when it has come to making personal alliances with people. It appears to be his distorted understanding of what friendship is all about.

Arseholes like Craig just don't seem to realise that Britain is such a diverse mix of cultures, who have contributed to the good of Britain and added to the mix in a healthy positive way over the years.

I am not condoning Craigs version of "patriotic",however with all the previous talk about the "English "national anthem"yesterday I feel it might be worth examining just what kind of sentiments the anthem evokes.

It talks of confounding our enemies, thwarting of Knavish tricks, and the seditious Scots used to have a verse to themselves.

It's a nasty piece of work that praises and asks for protection of an individual cares little for the peasants who simply are expected to lay down and pay homage.

It makes it very easy for those like craig to extend it into jingoism since IMO that's were it came from.

I'm glad I live in Britain but I'm not proud to actually be British. I really couldn't care less what it says on my passport.

It's definitely 'asylum seeker' - the word that he mouthes to Maxwell and Anthony. I watched the whole uncomfortable little episode last night with my mouth open in disbelief. Then followed the 3 of them chanting that wonderful little 'Engerland, Engerland, Engerland' ditty, with Craig going over to the patio doors and opening them wide, watching Science in the kitchen cooking as he clapped away to the beat of the 'song'.

It made my flesh creep! Couple that last night with the 'Go to Big Brother Zimbabwe', calling Turkish Kemal 'Kebab', etc etc etc.

I've just read this whole thread and feel totally disgusted. More so since I've just said on another thread how nice it was watching the live feed just now and seeing Science and Max ironing out their differences with no help from Craig mind you.

I've voted a fair bit to get Max out but feel you are right that it's a total waste of money as there's something so fundamentally wrong in the minds of the Endemol production team to be actively supporting this.
