Well they did have an album out in the past 12 months so it would hardly be a 'comeback'.

They toured in April (last album was out last October). At the end of most, if not all, of their gigs they said "see you in two years", so I'd expect they're having a break for a while.

Also all the stuff about the tenth anniversary of Holy Bible, and now this documentary about them coming soon. All in all, it's been their most productive year so far this millennium! Saw them in Wolves in April - they rocked!

But yes, they would have been great at Live8.

I could imagine that if they played Live8 Nicky would have made another foot-in-mouth comment (like the famous 'Someone should build a bypass over this sh*thole' quote from Glasto).

Plus, given their political idealogy, I can't see them believing that a few stars singing in a field could make any difference to the situation in Africa, and joining in.

Yup... the same reasons I didn't play Live 8. Well, them and the fact I wasn't asked.

I wouldn't agree with the bypass/sh*thole quote anymore though. There was a place by the river in my hometown where me and my first girlfriend used to sit when we wanted to get away from everyone. When I came back to the town earlier this year I wanted to go back there and revive some memories, but the whole area has been flattened and concreted, and now they're building a bypass there.

Not sure how relevant that is, but there you go. I wouldn't mind the publicity that comes with playing Live 8, but it would probably all go wrong when I made some comments that were "not with the spirit of the event" or flipped off Bob Geldof or something.
