I thought they were ok(ish) at Live 8 but have listened to some of their stuff since and I quite like it. Fall to pieces is excellent.

I like a few of there songs and Fall To Pieces is superb but i do think they were poor at live 8. Any band with Slash in it can't really go wrong i suppose if only they had a better frontman...

I quite like their music but I refused to buy their album on principle, because of the aggressive copy protection used on it.

If they release/have released an edition without this "protection" then I would definitely consider it.

It's kinda like Guns'n'Roses, but without that screechy whiny Axl geezer and with some decent, modern production.

So. You dont want to buy the CD because of the copy protection.. so I guess youve downloaded it? The Irony

Velvet Revolver at Live8 didnt fit in, that doesnt detract that theyre an excellent group with a cracker of an album in Contraband..

They sound very talented, but it's not my cup of tea, musically.

What Copy protection, It says it's protected and most certainly does'nt act like it, thats why i didn't copy it and take it back cos the disc was corrupt. thats the one with the bonus track!!! the one without the bonus track doesn't show any signs of copy protection ether.

Indeed VR didn't fit in at Live8, if fact i doubt many of the people their knew their songs. However they were easily one of very few highlights in hyde park.

The real shock is that they didn't do at least one guns and roses cover that would cover or that pick floyd cover that they have been doing on tour so far. that might of pleased the crowd much more.

That's what I usually do. I'm having trouble finding a decent quality rip of this album though, so I'd much prefer to get the CD.

Interesting... I've read several reports of that disc installing a driver on PCs without the user's permission as soon as the disc is inserted that blocks access to the audio and that of similar discs. The driver is also reported to cause performance and stability issues on PCs.

There have also been a few reports of CD-ROM drives and standalone CD players being permanently damaged by this disc.

A CD with copy protection is technically not a CD as it does not confirm to Sony/Philips Red Book standards.

They are not as amazing as Guns N Roses (even though they consist of many original band members)...but overall they are very talented.

Slash is one of a kind

And Axl Rose was one of a kind as well (i dont care what anyone says...he may have been an a**hole, but he sure was different)

yea a grade A a**hole was Axl. Scott Weiland does a much better job and the band bennifits from it. Like the new name too.

Contraband Kicks ASS, as for the better than G'n'R question, i think we need another album or 2 to really find out VR.

Oh and back to the copy protection thing, their are 2 uk versions of the CD the standard one never had copy protection, the one in red with the bonus track has a copy protection label on the back but my copy of this version appears to be clean else it would be back at the shop already.

Do you think they are really any better than Slash's Snakepit were? I still say they were the best at Live 8 behind The Who and Floyd but still believe them to be a 3rd rate rock band. The fact they get the recognition they do is partly due to Slash being in the band and the general lack of decent (or in fact any) rock bands on the scene at the moment.

The fact Slash is in the band immediately gives them a better guitarist than 98% of other bands out there.

They aren't amazing, but like you said, if you like Rock and these guys are better than most right now, whatcha gonna do??

Dido was the worst at Live8. She can't sing live.

Velvet Revolver rocked!

Cant believe you think that. they were about the best at Live8 imo, they wore their hearts on their sleeves and really went for it. The crowd let them down but then the crowd let everybody except Robbie W@nkstain.

VR rocked like nobody else at Live8.
