Mel B's latest album has sold little more than 600 copies, according to the Sunday Mirror today.

The former Spice Girl released LA State of Mind on June 27, however when it was due to chart last Sunday, it did not make it into the Top 75. This week, the album is not due to enter the Top 200.

"Because LA State of Mind's chart position is so low, it doesn't register on any of the available data," chart expert Genarro Castaldo told the newspaper.

A source added, "It really is a tragically bad chart position. But actually the album's not that bad."

What went wrong??? Surely it wasn't that bad ?

Didn't even know she did another album. Didn't get much press for it, did she?

That'll be why it has sold so few.

wasnt it on some abstract label though? hence the no advertising?

for a comparison, position 200 is taken by dire straits "brothers in arms" this week

Scary Spice.. Though they were all equally disturbing in their own right.

Oops. There must be a generation of 15-20 year old girls who are two embarrised to buy something by Mel B now. Lets hope they have all thrown away their Spice Girls albums. It is 9 years ago after all!

I bought it - out of being a spice fan, it's actually really good. I think the fact she was on a TINY label with no press and was out of the country didn't help.

I guess it depends on how her and her record company are looking at it. If she's signed to a tiny label that can't even afford to advertise her first solo album, she's obviously not in great demand, otherwise she'd have signed to a bigger label. On that basis, she may consider that she's starting out again, this time as a solo artist, and that 600 will do to build on. If I released an album and 600 total strangers bought it, I'd feel pretty good about it. On the other hand, if she thought the SG fans would all rush out and buy it, or that her solo efforts up to now were good enough to get her legions of new fans, then 600 is piss poor and she needs to work out what went wrong.

The single was shit. The video was crap. I'd be surprised if the album was better.

Actually thinking about it I have to give her credit for not taking the cheap way out and reforming with the Spice Girls.

The simple fact is that all five of the Spice Girls are no more relevent, havent been for years and should honestly just give it all up.

it shows that nobody cares about them, well maybe 600 do about mel b....

This whole reuinon thing would be rubbish too. I mean the kids that liked them like 9 years ago will be to cool to like them now, and the kids of now wont give a fudge who they are.

Groups like are only as good as their PR people - this proves it

She funded the album herself and its only released on a very tiny label, she actually said she wasn't going to promote it as it was just a quick-job for the fans.

The album is actually very good, I borrowed it from a friend, and its really summery and fresh, its a shame it flopped, but I guess she expected it, so it doesn't matter.
