Anyone think C4 show should be same day?

Does anyone think that, with live coverage on E4 now the norm and the day's events being frequently discussed on Big Brother's Little Brother, it is now rather untenable for the Channel 4 highlights show to continue to be a whole day behind?

Obviously only covering the previous day's events makes it much easier editorially, but when news programmes can report on events that have sometimes only happened minutes before broadcast, it cannot surely be beyond the Big Brother team to produce rather more up-to-date editorial coverage!

Yes, it does seem rather stupid showing the previous day.

if u only had C4 as your BB experience, it'd be pretty poor - the highlights are just edited totally out of context - you couldn't have a real clue either what the characters were like, or what esle was going on that didn't make C4 show.

I suppose it might be because most of the action happens from 10pm onwards. So we see the day go from the time they wake up untill the time they go to bed, rather then 10pm till 10pm every day.

It might not be obvious but the editing on BB is pretty slick considering that they have so many feeds to choose from for the final edit. This selecting and editing takes time, unforch - which is why we all see it a day late.

Yeah, a lot of work and effort goes into each show, especially as they have 24 hours * 32 feeds to get material from... They just wouldnt have enough time to get it ready for that night, plus they would have to rush it and we'd miss the best bits.

Having been a video editor myself for the last 4.5 years, I know how much work goes into editing a half hour programme - editing a 3 - 5 minute news story is much quicker that pulling together footage from loads of different cameras, keeping everything in sync, riding the mic levels for 12 housemates plus additional audio etc.

I reckon they do a really good job on the highlights show - although it is true that it can give a very different picture than if you watch the E4 stuff.... I noticed that last year - this year I'm having to do with just the C4 coverage thanks to ITV Digital...

if only they sorted the live audio out... Sometimes theres about 5 people all going at once, perhaps in different areas, but still all audibly. Sometimes it just gets too loud.

I agree that it seems long way behind sometimes, but editing indeed does take a long time to do.
I do agree though that something that happens at 3am on a tuesday morning should be on channel 4 that night, but i thought that happens anyway, but someone said it goes from 10pm to 10am
We'll see tonite
Be interesting to see how much of last nites antics get shown on Channel 4.

Yep, It the C4 show goes up to whenever they go to bed the night before so that leaves about 20 hours or less to get the show edited.
Remember in the first year though, the C4 show did have stuff from that day - when Nick was booted out.
I can't remeber what day it was he left (I think it was a Thursday) so on the show that night it showed Wednesday's highlights (when Craig found the bits of paper in Nick's bag) and Thursday morning when the confrontation took place. It was later that day he left, but it wasn't shown until the following day's highlight show. So that gave them from lunch time 'til 10pm to put together that show - pretty good.
