One of the audio stories has the Daleks quoting Shakespeare. I can't remember what story (not episode!) it was though.

Just googled 'daleks' and 'Shakespeare' and got 'The Time of the Daleks'.

However, why is it that people think it's "I knew him well"? I know it's a common misconception, but why did it ever happen?

"Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio" is the correct line.

Yes, that's the one. It's quite amusing and worth a listen.

Wasn't the moment in the recent Dalek episode? At the end:

"To be or not to be? Not to be! NOT TO BE!!!"

Private Eye have also done the odd cartoon showing the Daleks acting in Shakespeares plays (after CE announced his retirement from the show, they speculated that the Daleks might also want to avoid being typecast).

How about:

Al-as Poor Yo-Rick, I knew him Doc-tor! He did not obey. He was ex-ter-minat-ed!

Or:

Does not a Da-Lek Bleed? No! Da-Leks are the per-fect life form! Our armour is im-pe-ne-trable! A Dalek exterminates! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!!

We lose more audiences that way...

What a piece of work is man! How no-ble in rea-son! how in-fi-nite in fa-cul-ties! in form and mo-ving, how ex-press and ad-mir-able! in a-ction how like an an-gel! in app-re-hen-sion, how like a god! But not the God of all Da-leks!

Friends! Da-leks! Ro-bo-men!
Lend me your ears!
I come to ex-ter-min-ate dav-ros, not to raise him!

"A Tardis! A Tardis!
My plunger for a Tardis!"

Or:
Dalek: "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead!"
CE: "Oh, aye?"
Dalek: "Aye. I ex-ter-minated them."
Hamlet: "Put them in the curry"
(well, maybe not that last line).

Gary
I'll get my coat...

The dal-leks shall, with a mon-archs voice
Cry hav-oc, and let slip the dogs of war!!
That this foul deed shall smell a-bove the earth!
With hu-mans, groan-ing for burial! Ex-ter-min-ate!

I just snorted good beer out through my nose because of this entry...could someone have a word and include warnings for humour on the thread title?
