I know, I was a little scared, but have identified with all replys.

I love the Cuprinol reference!

What I have noted with both sexes this year is something less akin to the archetypes most of us would expect of the respective sexes, and something more akin to Lord of the Flies.

In previous years there has been at least some sense of the HMs being a family and trying to all get along to a certain extent. The female HMs then fall into broadly recognisable roles.

This year it seems to have been dog eat dog right from the start, so both sexes have behaved in a more feral way, vying for the top spot of the pecking order, or to be the partner or mate of the dominant male (e.g. Saskia with Maxwell)

It's all about survival this year and I think Endemol have encouraged the competitive edge rather than group cohesion, from the split layout of the house to the secret missions and tasks where one individual, rather than the group, were the winners (e.g. the counting task)

Also, the group consists mainly of selfish narcissists who, by definition, will put themselves first above anyone else in any given situation.

It's not surprising, therefore, that quite a number of us have failed to identify with, or warm to, any housemate this year.

I agree. But even in the survival stakes ( and we are not discussing actual survival here) who would you cling to for comfort and support?

The fact that these people have never had to do without anything life sustaining, (BB has always supplied them with luxuries etc. regularly), what does that say about us?

I know watching BB this year constantly reminds me, of how indulgent I have been to my 17 yr old daugher.

Mind sound a little dramatic, but it's actually the truth.

'Lord of the Flies' no...... more like 'Idiot, Indulgent, Parents of the Eighties'!

Ok, since when have women been a race?

I am not being pedantic.....this faux pas says alot more about you than you realise.

Women are not a race, they are a gender. As said before, woman are part of the human race. So are men.

A guess of mine is that for many of the teenage girl voters, the female hms are actually the ones that they watch the most, even if they don't like them. They scrutinise their relationships with each other and with the men. Events in the house that only feature the men are less interesting to them, so any unpleasant motivations on the part of the men are not analysed and pored over to the same degree.
