Well, if I had lost a loved one in those bombings I would be grateful that the UK remembered them in a two minute silence.

Two minutes out of your day isn`t asking a lot.

Sometimes things have to be seen to be done. You might be wandering around a supermarket during the 2 minute silence, thinking about the bombings.........but it won`t look that way to the outside observer.

Anyhooooooo...........to each their own.

I suppose the best way is just to stay at home with your own thoughts at the particular time and avoid those sort of situations .”

When I was a little girl at 11 a.m. on the 11th November everything stopped. People stood still in the street in silence, buses and trains stopped shops were silent inside. Everyone then was paying their respect for millions dead in WWI. Now we don't even respect the date. I think that we now get things out of all proportion to the actual event. I can't remember any of this during twenty years of the Irish troubles when London and other cities were being bombed. I agree with molley that it's a personal thing and should not become a sort of mass hysteria like the funeral of Princess Diana or it loses its meaning.

If my switchboard doesn't calm down soon I'll find it very difficult not to speak for 2 minutes.

Do you think I'll get the sack if I unplug it? I want to observe the silence but there is bound to be someone who doesn't.

Molley - don't you dare ring me til 5 past

What annoys me is that the Internet stream is exactly the same as E4 just minus the ads..and we have to pay separately for it. I thought the Internet was supposed to have less censorship than tv?

I wonder if they will stop the live for 2 minutes. Probably just mute the sound.

Ah yes! Uncle Craigy's BB viewer! it was excellent, you could have both streams A & B running at the same time and flick between the 2 for the sound.

Oh, morning again everyone

WHATM - butter discussion in the kitchen.

I agree, if they put an adult warning on the internet streaming, then they could just allow to play the swearing and the show the nakedness all day without complaints.

Are we going to do the new thread early, then because of not typing at that time?

Good idea - and you could mention it in the opening post so that everyone who joins knows what you/we have done.

Orlaith being snappy with Science again, and I had so hoped that sharing their swimming task might have reduced the intensity of her dislike for him.

If I had lost a loved one I wouldn't care that a bunch of strangers were having a 2 minute silence... I would be much more interested in what is going on to catch the people responsible and dwelling on my own grief.

Like you say though, we are all different.
