I received some Amazon vouchers for my birthday and I bought a few DVDs. including this one.

It arrived today and it is absolutely fantastic and excellent value at £11 with an 80 minute Fairfield Hall concert on one DVD and 80 minutes of other concerts, outtakes, interviews and a documentary on the other. Some of the material is also on the Special Edition of her CD or has been televised, but a lot is new.

I first saw Katie sing on TV 18 months ago and I was immediately impressed with her voice. I bought her debut CD when it came out and that is excellent.

She has a very beautiful voice and she can sing live unlike many of her contemporaries. If you like Katie, buy this DVD, you will not be disappointed.

I also bought Dido’s live in Brixton which arrived a few days ago. I love her CDs but she is not very good live and the DVD is sadly very disappointing. Dido obviously gets a lot of help with her voice in the studio computers.

I saw Dido live in Cardiff last year and she was very good - maybe it was the acoustics at the venue that were at fault.

Also saw Katie Melua at the NIA earlier this year and she was simply fantastic - what a wonderful voice she has.

If you like good female vocalists singing live, I can thoroughly recommend Bic Runga live with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The CD shows up occasionally on ebay and is in some shops. Amazon link here:

We went to some friends for dinner last night (Sat) and they played a track by Bic Runga. I was impressed so I will check her out.

They said she is from New Zealand. I had not heard of her before.
