So, to answer your question... One might think "homophobia" dates from about 1969 because... That's when it dates from.
The word itself strikes me as ridiculous. It's all wrong. It makes no sense. It does not mean what it should mean. What "homophobes" are suffering from is, in fact, heterophobia. Fear of the different.

"It ain't right" - in reference to homosexual activity - is not evidence of "homophobia". ("Gay freak" may be, but since that's the topic of this thread, I'll try to steer clear of that for the moment.) It's evidence of a particular moral code.
From what I have seen on BB, Science is no homophobe.
