Yeah, I think most of the stuff that is going to be recovered already has.

I hope a few turn up in the years to come, but i doubt it somehow.

Just think how long the search for the missing Dad's Army episodes took before some where found. There is still hope that many of the lost Dr Whp episodes can be found one day soemwhere.

I don't think we can ever conclusively say there definitely aren't any more episodes to be found. It's just a sad fact that the chances are very slim, and as time goes by, becoming even slimmer.

Still, it doesn't harm to keep one's fingers crossed!

Actually I have a theory - at some point in the future some fan will invent a real TARDIS and use their creation to go back in time and bring copies of all the lost episodes to the future. If this will happen it means that it has already happened and the so-called missing episodes are actually somewhere in the distant future where a new generation of Doctor Who fans are enjoying them whilst mourning the fact that the ninth Doctor (in a new third set of regenerations) only chose to do one season (which is strange since he was played by a new design of robot actor designed especially to stay with a long-running show as long as it's wanted).

Yep, always thought it was a bad idea to give robots emotions.

I'm going to lobby my MP for an Early Day motion to make everyone with an attic and a cellar search them for old film in the hope we turn up the missing Dalek episodes...

It's always a shame to see Ian Levine's name in the press.

Interesting that this seems to be presented as a new thing, rather than just publicity/PR for the "missing believed wiped" scheme that has been running for ages.

I don't think it's necessarily the case that nothing will ever be found ever again: that's been said in the past, and Dalek Masterplan and Crusade episodes have since turned up. There are slimmer pickings, as time wears on, but it's not impossible. Fingers crossed for me for The Smugglers and The Savages!

I want the 2 Patrick Dalek storys to be found Power and Evil of the daleks.

Along with Mission to the unknowen as it sets up William Hartnells The chase story. wich was 1 of his best.

Me too, along with both Yeti stories and what some class as the Holy Grail of missing episodes, Tenth Planet 4.

The ones I want them to find most are the missing episodes from 'Web of Fear' and part 4 of 'Tenth Planet'.

If I had to choose a single episode, I'd choose ep 1 of Power of the Daleks any day over the usual "favourite" Tenth Planet ep 4.

A lot of material exists for Tenth but hardly anything for Power.

I would find it much more interesting to see exactly how they handled the original regeneration - re Ben and Polly's reactions.

I don't hold out much hope.

But you never know - look at Tomb of the Cybermen turning up complete...

Well, jim, I said it was considered by some people to be the holy grail, not all.

Agreed though, I'd love to see Troughton's first story (in fact all of his episodes that are missing). In an ideal world none of the episodes would ever have been ditched, but as you say about Tomb, you never know. We may just be lucky again at some point.

I still remember the shock that went round when Tomb turned up. A very long time ago, now. Think of all those shattered illusions when we sat down to watch it!

I loved Tomb, it has to be said. Mainly because I love how "scared" Troughton acts when confronted by the Cybermen. Although the special effects might be considered dated, his acting was top notch and made it for me.

I love tomb too - thought it was great! Very eerie and atmospheric. A Dr Who classic IMHO.

Yes, you can even forgive that rather obvious piece of rope and the dummy cyberleader being thrown about!

That's a scene I won't forget. I was thinking what the heck's going on there? Took me a few seconds to realise that the rope wasn't actually in the story, but was meant to be behind the scenes. They should have really found a different way of shooting that scene I think.

Would we have been able to see the rope on the old (425-line I think?) low-res, small tv's that people had in those days?

That's what I was thinking as well.

Probably because he can't say or write anything in the public media without mentioning how he saved loads of Doctor Who stories from destruction and worked on the old series in the 1980s.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to the guy, but he's a bit up himself and an arrogant so-and-so by all accounts!
