Since day 1 Science has been the only HM that hasnt looked to form close bonds with anyone. Its a normal survival instinct in a game where your nominating each other to from alliances but Science hasnt done that.

Now of course Science has his faults, hes loud and aggressive at times and likes to pick fights, but i cant help feel sorry for him when he has most of the house attacking him and noone to back him up and fight his corner for him.

Personally i like Science i accept his failings but understand his upbringing, i like the fact he speaks his mind and defends himself even when the odds are well against him. I really wish there was someone in the house looking out for him, someone that could defend him to the sheep, its not easy fighting all your battles on your own.

Personally i think he'll come out of it well, noone likes to see bullying and when 1 person is targeted its very easy for them to be shown as the victim. The fact that certain HM are now all of a sudden friendly with people they've been bitching about all week (im thinking Craig and Derek and Kamal here) isnt going to look good for them either. Sciences main assett is his truthfulness, he hasnt bitched about anyone that didnt already know how he felt about them. He hasnt formed fake alliances to avoid being nominted.

I wish i were in that house so i could defend him against the majority and tell them a few home truths too. Lets hope Science rides this out and doesnt let the fact that hes on his own in the house affect him. I think Makowsi likes him, but she wont stick her neck out for him at the moment, but if the bullying continues he may have a supporter there.

It is important to remember that the reason Science doesn't have any friends is that he has made no effort to make friends.

I'd like to think that if I were in there I'd leap to Science's defence too, but I can't discount the fact that I might be so infuriated with him after living with him for seven weeks that I wouldn't be too inclined to put my head over the parapet for him.

I suspect this is the case with Eugene, for example.

I know, and i think he thought Eugene was his friend.

The way he is being bullied and ostracised is getting to make for extremely unpleasant viewing.

If Science is isolated in the House, he has only himself to blame.

Science does not have the personality to make a friend...and if he did, he would think that friend was plotting against him.

If Science stopped ranting and shouting he would have friends.

He managed it for about 2 weeks, then went back to his old ways when he beat Maxwell.

Thats not really true, from the outset the 2 cliques were formed, Science was never going to be friendly with Maxwells crew and he had nothing in commin with the bitching divas.

From the first week it was only really him, Derek and Roberto that werent part of the cliques and while i do think there was potential for a father / son type relationship there you have to remember that Science is a young 20's guy and Derek is in his 40's i dont know many people in their 20's that have much in common with a 40 year old.

Hes tried to form some kind of friendship with Anthony and Craig and i do think him and Anthony would get on well if Craig weren't there. But its obvious that Craig wants Anthony all to himself and as we saw yesterday despite their nice chats over the last week or so Craig had no qualms about attacking him alongside people hed been slating all week.

Science was probabaly the only HM to listen to Eugene initially but now hes under Dereks wing and he seems to have forgotten this and has also bitched about him behind his back.

Science needs an alley in the house, without one he is scuppered. It had looked like he was making in roads with Craig and Anthony but then he couldn't keep his mouth shut and deailed the progress that had been made by both sides.

As for all this "power to the people" and "Citizen Science" nonsense he comes out with; it is all ripped of from a sit-com called "Citizen Smith".

Let's be clear about the relationship between Eugene and Science.

No-one really wants to engage Eugene, as he is boring and conversationally inept.

Similarly Science; conversationally is selfish, boring, has a lack of knowledge and education, as he has a waring etiquette.

Science has often to resort or by default (that no-one else wants to engage him) gravitate to Eugene, who will often be sitting on his own, and will nod politely for long periods of time regardless of his own intellectual discomfort.

I don't think he does need a friend, tbh. He's the only HM to have ever got this far without any particular friends. His independent streak is one of his strengths, IMO.

I agree with those who find his loudness irritating but the HMs should just watch and learn. I was wondering the other night why he was (deliberately, it seemed) winding Orlaith up - he wouldn't leave her alone and it was driving her NUTS. And that's the key, perhaps - he just loves to get a reaction out of people and I think he has most respect for those who don't rise to the bait. I'm sure he must be maddening to live with but out of all of them he's the only one that deserves to win it, IMO.

And I loved him painting Anthony's nails.

Yes he does no wonder he has no mates in the house. Everyone just leaves the room when he enteres casue he never shuts up.

Your missing the point, ALL the HMs have facts to their personalities which you would suggest wouldnt make good friends. Craig for example bitched non stop about Maxwell and Anthony in the first few weeks and now hes best buddies. Hes also slagged off Derek all week and alst night they were together in attacking Science.

A friend is someone that looks out for you even when your in the wrong. All the HMs have done bad stuff but they all have people watching their backs and supporting them, Science doesnt.

Whether youlike him or not its not nice to be on your own when everyones attacking you. Just from a humanitarian point of view i just wish Science had someone in the house looking out for him, thats not saying he doesnt have his faults but name me a HM thats perfect?

I think the way he treats Orlaith is appalling and it has been since she came into the house.

I hope the other HMs don't watch that and learn.

Surely everyone can see the isolation of Science is his own doing.

When is able to curb his "straight talking" and actually chat with the other HMs they actually all get on quite well.

When is in "straight talking" (shouting over people and shouting down at them) thn people try to avoid him as much as possible.

He flicks between the two modes of communication far too easily and this makes him unpredicatable.

If I was in the house with him I wouldn't be able to cope with him and I don't very much many of his supporters would be able to either.

There are 2 sides to every story and Orlaith has disliked Science from the moment shes got into the house. Maybe she watched the show before she went in and knew he wasnt very popular. It was telling that she immediately associated herself with those that had ben popular, unfortuneately for her that order is changing!

Shes bitched constantly about him way before any arguements happened, and talks down to him. As he said yesterday who is she to tell him to shut up? If he wants to talk he'll talk.

I don't think so. Science has managed to irritate the HMs to such a degree that they all (and I think that's accurate) now dislike him.

If Science wanted friends in the House (and I don't know that he did), he needed to do something other than constantly shout, "Shut up! Ya get me? I'll do it because I want to!" and the like. Arrogant, self-centred, aggressive people don't win many friends.

Nobody owes Science friendship. He is (other than to those FMs who support him) an unlikable person.

He has since apologised to Orlaith about his behaviour, it's a pity the others cannot demonstrate the same humility.

I think because others are playing the game more than him they realised the need to form alliances. Now personally i dont think these are true friendships in most cases, simply survival tactics not to get them nominated, BUT everyone in the house has someone looking out for them excpet Science.

I just wish for his own good, he had someone in there he could talk to on a level and someone that would back him up. I wonder if he'd be targeted as much if there was someone else in there more articulate and calm supporting him and advising him.

How can you say, given all that he has done for the various housemates, in sticking up for them (Derek & Sam), cooking for them (all of the housemates), and not demanding 'his' items on the shopping list (sweets and pop for Makosi and Vanessa, alcohol for Max, Anthony and Saskia), that he is 'self-centred'?

The Science haters like to ignore the fact he apologises many times. You didnt see Orlaith come upto him and say 'we were both out of order, how about we forget about it, and come to a better solution next time'.

Explain why other HMs should bother to be a friend to him or back him up, please.
