am i alone in thinking that derek really and truly showed his devious manipulative nature on tonights highlight show when he told kemal that they should confront orlaigh and tell her that they knew what she had been saying about them.
interestingly enough when it came to it derek said nothing at all and it was left to kemal to do dereks dirty work for him. i couldnt believe how quietly derek sat there allowing kemal to take the flak.....what a sneaky slimey creature he revealed himself to be!!!.......its time he went...

he's been doing this for weeks! he does them one by one. he's tried with science, and is really going for it now as he heard his cheers. remember how derek had them all in the palm of his greasy hand when assasinating saskia and maxwell. he is at the root of so much conflict, yet still so popular. i can't see why the public like him, especially as he is such an uncle tom and a vile snob.

You may not be alone in your thoughts, but I think you might have interpreted the situation in a different way to that of mine.

It appeared to me ( granted, per the highlights ) that Kemal approached Derek, and Derek gave his advice i.e. to speak to Orlagh. I don't remember Derek mentioning anything about doing it front of everyone else, in fact from memory, I thought he;d advised speaking to Orlagh one to one.

Remember, the grievance was between Kemal and Orlagh, NOT Derek, therefore Derek did right sit back and let Kemal have it out with Orlagh.

No, he insisted that Kemal should do it infront of everybody, he also told Kemal what to say and Kemal followed instructions to the letter.

I beg to disagree - I don't recall Derek telling him to approach her in front of every one.

I could be wrong.

If we're being honest derek is anything but the honerable man he claims to be, he comes across as a rat, a double crosser and big time tosser, a total pratt, and thats that! If we talk about honesty and speaking true, then I urge you, to do what you have to do, vote for science and beat derek's defiance! SCI-DOGG to WIN!!

The conversation took place at approx 5 p.m yesterday while Derek was in the pool.
It was cut from the channel 4 highlights show.
Kemal wanted to talk to Orlaith on her own, but Derek said it had to be in front of everybody or she would simply deny it "Do you see?"

Derek is a real poison in the house, he plays everyone then stands back and enjoys it, and he still has most onside, even Anthony and Craig after he told everyone Anthony was gay, they still trust his word above others.

the people can see though, power to the people

i think some of them look up to him because he's a lot older, and think he wouldn't be like that. makes his snide carryings on even worse imo.

If he was a girl, don't you think the venon from alot of people on this forum would be alot worse? He is without doubt the dirtiest player in the game, whispering sweet nothings in anyones ears who will give him the time of day. He is very sly, he picks out the person he wants everyone to nominate and then builds up a dossier on them and uses all his info, twists it abit but with an element of truth so that he can back himself up in an argument. Even then he can't give a straight answer!

Hopefully, Derek might be up for eviction this week. Unfortunately, if he's up against Orlaith he will survive another eviction. Then his confidence in the house will sky rocket out of control

not if he gets louder boos than makosi got.
Derek needs a reality check and a massive boo might make him realise that he is not as popular as he thinks.
I really wish derek was up againest science..the look on his face when science beats him would be priceless.

Interesting that it was Derek that coined the phrase 'the silent assassin'.

I don't think it'd be such a done deal that Derek would lose to Science. Science is gaining a lot of haters as well as a lot of supporters at the moment, not unlike Max towards the end of his stay.

If you look at the smaller points they throw out in their highlights shows they are portraying Derek's character in full. He appears in the diary room for 2 months talking about only the public having the right to evict people and when asked to evict Vanessa immeadiately forgets the point and votes. He tells us Vanessa sleeps all day and twice tonight they made the point that Derek was asleep at the time of the afternoon action they were showing. He tells about Orlaith and Makosi bitching and gets on with bitching to Kemal. He tells us how he hates Science after telling Science weeks ago he sees himself in him and giving him fatherly chats. He spins from behind the scenes but never steps in to resolve house disputes - he is an authority figure who never takes responsibilities.

Yes, that's an excellent summary.

But are viewers noticing these things? Or - if they do notice - do they mind?

They've had good chances to evict Derek and haven't taken them.

Derek claims to be some kind of distinguished gentleman but he is a sneaky, two faced lowlife. I dont know hwho I want to slap more, Derek for his lies or the rest of them for falling for it. He is gossiping then sitting back while other housemates fall out. Is his plan to get everybody else to hate each other, and therefore nominate each other while he sits in the background grinning?

Derek actually did say something to Orlaith, after Kemal had had his say.

The thing about this 'scene' was that Kemal went about the houses in saying what he thought to Orlaith without mentioning that it was her he was talking about, however Derek told her outright that she had been saying things about him behind his back.

The difference between the two is that Derek was not afraid to actually accuse Orlaith whilst Kemal could not bring himself to accuse her face to face. I would have had more respect for Kemal if he had said, something like 'Orlaith, I believe you are coming between Makosi and myself, and here are the reasons why...'

That was the highlights show, just because they did not show it didn't mean it did not happen.

Showdown At The OK Kemal
Day 52, 22:30

The promised showdown between Orlaith and Kemal finally happened with Makosi and Derek as support.

Kemal explained, "Makosi and I have been friends for seven weeks and have been through a lot together. It's come to my attention that people are saying things behind my back. I don't appreciate it if people are saying 'don't trust this and don't trust that' and to me, they're nice as pie."

Orlaith was sympathetic until she twigged he was talking about her.

"I will not accept someone coming between two good friends," said Kemal.

"I'm not doing that," protested Orlaith. "I have never tried to do that."

It was time for the big guns. Enter Derek.

"If this was a court of law I would be able to read out a charge sheet against you too, because I know you've said things about me," he said.

"Derek, I have not said anything about you," replied Orlaith, suddenly looking cornered.

"I am not a mole and there are no grounds for saying I am," said Derek.

Orlaith told him she only said that to him in the context that any one of them could be a mole.

The court is now in session..."I am not a racist and there are no grounds for claiming I am," came Derek's second charge.

Orlaith said she'd listened to other people's opinions and shouldn't have. She also told him she looked up to him and was nice about him in the Diary Room.

"The third thing is, I do not have a problem with women, nor do I have a problem with intelligent women," Derek stated.

Again Orlaith admitted to listening to the opinions of those who had been in the House longer than her.

Derek summed up. "If you feel there's tension between us, it's with a cause. But, I wipe the slate clean. It is forgotten," he summed up formally.

Kemal then got another shot in at the witness. "It's not nice to hear someone is saying to your best friend - don't trust them, if they've voted for you."

"All I said was, you can't trust a person you don't know," said Orlaith and got some backing from Makosi.

Makosi then turned prosecutor and asked Kemal why he voted for her. Suddenly Kemal didn't want frankness. "I don't have to explain my decision," he told her.

They didn't exactly hug afterwards but it cleared the air. For tonight.

I liked him in the first couple of weeks. That soon changed tho, I've been thinking he's a manipulative so and so since then.

Only his witty one-liners (which are occasionally offensive) keep him in there.

Derek puts ideas in to peoples heads and then sits back and watches the house turn into world war 3.
a very sly man.alot of the things he is going around the house doing are really no better than what Nasty nick did.
i think alot of people are starting to see derek's true colours.
