Sorry Jojo. I didn't know about the postman job. I have 2 questions though.
1. Don't they have to be able to read?

I don't know about the reading, may be the letters were coloured coded

.

Maybe his round was restricted to houses that had the letter box at the bottom of the door. When those doors became replaced he moved onto hairdressing
