Well whilst I amy not always agree with your views Jenni. I still think you are great I always try to make a point of watching BBLB if I know you will be on there.

He fancies her, remember when she strip danced on his bed, he was buzzing + plus he has a pet name (Moloko) for her

Well guess what, IMO he still is.

He doesn't seem to understand that he isn't in the house now because everyone there likes him and invited him - he is there because the producers liked him and Makosi was afraid of Kinga's charms. I thought he had potential when he first came in to be a maverick winner but he is now out-sliming them all.”

Thanks for this post, I couldn't agree with you more. When Eugene first went into the house I felt quite sorry for him, especially with the 'rolling eye' faces Craig, Kemal, his new best friend Derek and several others were forever pulling as soon as he started talking but now he seems to have become one of the sneakiest manipulators in there. I don't like him at all now. Having said that, I suppose given that this is a contest for survival he is just doing what they all are, trying to outlast the oposition anyway he can, but I hope it all blows up in his face and when they turn on him Science no longer defends him.

By that reckoning then, I would say all the anti-Science threads suddenly sprouting up are to divert the attention away from the rest of the housemates apalling behaviour if we are going to use that direction now.

going back to the original subject i wonder if euegene will watch recordings of the show when he comes out , ie will he watch videos in which he and derrick are seen bitching, if he does i wonder how he will react and if he willlearn more after the house than during it. Its been interesting watching vanessa post eviction and how she feilds questions from dermet and handles comments about makosi, while she may not have watched all the past 7 weeks worth of highlights i wonder how much reality and now being an outsider recontextualizes her house experience.

Have we had a thread yet about which housemate will learn the most from being in BB this year? at the moment i'd suggest orla and eugene.

I would suspect that he might not because if he was clever enough to plan this he would be in Downing Street. He is playing the lot of them like nothing I've ever seen in my life. He has somehow naturally figured out how to push each and all their buttons and take us along for the ride. You probably don't want to but if you do just kind of climb on his shoulder for about ten minutes and view the house through his eyes and then pay attention to what he does. You might dislike him even more but you will quite possibly see the method to his madness.”

But WHY is he doing it? I don't see live feed.

I do think this is part of why I love Science so much, because I too have an ability to see the bad in people which is often extremely inconvenient. I'm older than him and I still haven't quite figured out what to do with it, but sometimes it makes it very hard to be relaxed. I can see the temptation of just using it to go round winding people up, although I wouldn't. Do you think he's just got bored and frustrated and he's taking it out on everybody? Or does he have an idea that he got cheered because his housemates are such vile people that he is applauded for annoying them? Please drop more clues! I have no idea what he is trying to do.

Haven't seen Eugene being slimy, just the forum posts, so am reserving judgement. I find it hard to believe that ANYONE else could be the slimiest person in a room that contains Craig! Do you think Eugene loathes Science because Science was nice to him?

I thought this was a little oasis when I started reading the thread but the trolls are active I see.

Back to the point of the thread though, I agree with you Jenni. I started off liking Eugene and hoped that he would not engage in the bitching and back stabbing, but instead stay more impartial. Unfortunately Derek seems to have revelled in finding someone else to pour his negativity into and Eugene has now lost that impartiality. Having found his voice in the group he now seems unable to stop. Unfortunately, when he comes out, he will see how he has been played by Derek and will feel quite bad about it.

I'd hoped it would cheer him up today too but it seems to have relieved none of his pent up frustration

I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't watching the live feed. I think he's doing it because (I felt this even when he first came and I really liked him a lot) his interpersonal skills are not the best. I would suspect he is quite often the least popular in a crowd. Now he is on the inside and he will do whatever it takes to cement that position. He tends to overdo things and so he sees people jumping on the anti-Science bandwagon and feels that's the place to be.

As for Science. The one thing I will say about him is that so far I've never seen him lie. I've never seen him backstab. He really is one of those very rare people who really does say what he sees. Now of course one knows that is not always appropriate/necessary/helpful/conducive to harmonious relations with your companions.

We all know that they treated Science like sh*t until Maxwell got 'asked to leave by the general public'. He took it all and let it roll off his back. Now he's getting a bit of his own back.

well vanessa, not only do you now know how to spot a troll but you've also learned how to kill a thread dead in its tracks.

Heh. Thank you. It was Science I was wondering about and couldn't figure out, but that makes sense. In some ways he's a simple creature!
God, what an idiot. I adore him but I keep wanting to thwap him, too.

Science initially was my most preferred house mate base on his audition tape. I don't think he talked about himself much, more about his aspirations.

He hasn't gone into the house to make friends. He seems to go out of his way to do the opposite.

It seems to me that they all lack self awareness they accuse each other of having negative qualities not recognizing them in themselves.

Science shouts a lot and loudly, this can result in fight flight reactions in those around him. These reactions are unpleasant for even unpleasant people and may result in more unpleasant behavior.

I too had hope for Eugene. I don't watch the live feeds on purpose. I hope he wins. If he is evil he must be the lesser...

Jenni, most of what you have mentioned in this thread makes alot of sense to me. For what it is worth, if I can go back to your (retorical?) question earlier I think BB has changed but I cannot make up my mind if it is for the better or not. Part of the problem with the BB formula is that it must evolve in order to keep attracting the same or more viewers. There is no escaping the fact that inevitably this requires meddling with the contestants. The original BB's were like reading a novel; the characters would unfold and come to life and remained captivating. All if not most characters were multifacetted with some noticeably exagerated traits. Latterly BB contains more and more one-dimensional characters which hugely exagerated traits, The biggest Geezer, the woman with the biggest breasts - the most scheming character, the biggest paradox etc etc. The problem is that too many of them stop the other characters from developing.

I don't think Science is a simple guy at all, perhaps whoever used the term "raw intelligence" was right. I also think Science is a very complex character, half of which he doesn't understand himself but is definately on a voyage of self discovery. As you said he's discovered what works in the house but doesn't understand why. Personally I don't think that the BB experience is good for him for that very reason. In a similar way the same goes for Eugene. I don't think theres malice in it, just a lack of interpersonal skills coupled with a very one dimensional situation.

I fear where BB7could take us....

I really do wish someone would tell me how to take part of a quote....anyway, yes I do agree with that similarity between Science and Eugene and I think that is why Science goes easy on him (or easy in Science terms I could be wrong but I think Science is having a ball. If you notice he never starts wailing "I wanna go home" like all the other babies
