Missing Vanessa
wilo
19-07-2005
I find it interesting that the loss of the quietest HM has led to the biggest change in house dynamic of the series.

Since Vanessa left things have descended into utter chaos, where people can't even rely on their erstwhile bitching buddies anymoree.

Makosi has been left friendless, she and Kemal have nothing to keep them bonded anymore, Orlaith is rudderless.

As a result Kemal is more open to Derek's trolling, Makosi's dominance has been eroded allowing Craig to step to the fore.

I wasn't a huge Vanessa fan, but I never agreed with those who said she was a waste of space, always seeing her as playing an important social role.

Thoughts? Am I reading this all wrong?

At least they'll have more cookies now she's gone

We are near the end.

They are fighting for the last remaining bit of air.

Vanessa not being there is merely coincedence not cause.

It probably broke up the laying in bed bitching dynamic, but I really can't see anything else.

I don't think it's the loss of Vanessa which has changed the dynamics of the house, IMO the way the eviction was carried out caused the tension.

The surprise nominees at the last minute, the housemates had to lay their cards on the table and choose their favourite between Van and Mak and it was the first time Makosi got to see what the outside world thought of her.

In short, if Vanessa had left via the normal route, the dynamics would not have changed so much!!!

Vanessa? Vanessa who? I didn't know there was a Vanessa in the house??

Ohhh THAT Vanessa, her that just ate and sleeped.

I think its fun to watch all the bitching buddies fall apart. So I think Vanessa leaving has created impact.

I don't believe that the lost of Vanessa is the reason for this break down. No matter who went after that evicition, Derek would have kicked his game plan into force. He has been working on Kemal and Eugene for the past couple of weeks and luckily managed to drag in Craig to his plans. Ultimately his plan will work as he will now make it through to the final but he hasn't a chance of winning now...

You couldn't be more wrong...this is all about the jeers and cheers and the other events on Friday night. Vanessa was nothing more than a support system for Makosi's oversized ego.

I think vanessa played the middle man role between kemal and makosi she seemed to be able to keep the team diva stuff going ,now she has gone it does seem to be open warfare. So i think the op might be right.

Yeah, Derek has certainly gone up a gear. It does seem as though Kemal has been even easier prey since Vanessa left though.

I'm not missing Vanessa, but I agree that the house has descended into a state of chaos since her departure. I don't know if that's a direct result of her leaving, but what I do know is that things are likely to kick into overdrive as soon as the housemates know who's up for eviction this week.

Yes, I think you've got a point. She was a more grounded personality, in my view.

Hmmm. Yeah. I think her being one of the few people there with any kind of self control, and having an ability to pay attention rather than demand it, gave her a fair amount of power. In a house full of wannabe divas the only groupie holds a lot of the cards! Now all their giant egos are starving (except Anthony's, even though Craig's attentiveness to him is the most attention seeking behaviour in the house) and the place is going mental. There's just not enough audience to go round.

Not even her bed is missing her.

I don't remember anyone actually mentioning her since she walked on Friday night.

Good riddence to the pointless dullard. She dosn't even deserve a thread in her name.

Missing her? Why, what did she do that was so vital?

I don't know why everybody is so nasty to her, I heard her on the Chris Moyles Show and she seems like a really nice, polite, down-to-earth girl.

Very good observation, brightlights.
