Does anyone know when the 2nd series of Dr who starts filming is it this month some time?
When does dr who series 2 start filming?
As far as I know, Season Twenty-Eight is in an advanced stage of pre-production, with filming due to start any day now.
The first production block will consist of 'The Christmas Invasion' and the first two episodes.
Working titles exist for two of the episodes:
28x03 is 'School Reunion'
28x12 is 'Army of Ghosts'.

I assume that the christmas invasion will be billed as season 2 and therefore will appear in the season 2 Dvd box set in 2006

I think you're right.
Just out of interest, 1983's 'The Five Doctors' is often billed as belonging to Season Twenty (although it belongs to the previous and not the next series as is the case here).

Yes, filming was due to start at the end of last week. It's officially the second series, though - I'm not sure why people want to call it series 28 when although it's basically a continuation of the original programme, it's a completely new production and therefore starts again at series one.
How on earth did they manage to do enough pre-production work in time to start filming?
I mean they only announced that there would be a new series once the first series was being aired.
Planning, Set building, writing, costumes, prosthetics, special effects, CGI.
How on earth could they have possibly worked so quickly that they can actually start filming?
It sounds like a massive job with an army working their bollocks off on it at full speed,...or it sounds like a rush job.

They actually started pre-production months ago in the hope that there would be a second series (according to RTD). Obviously the whole production process for each story will continue throughout filming which is likely to carry on until January or February next year.

Similar to the classic series then. Colin Baker's original Season 23 (which would have been aired in early 1986) was in pre-production before the hiatus (announced whilst the Two Doctors was first screened).
