Im sure you will agree u need to get out more
Ur backward thinking is what has turned a lot of people against religion...but to my thinking God created Adele so it must be his "fault" (not that i see it as such)
Anyway back to the suject matter....well done to Adele for for being so honest in front of her family and all the other veiwers.

i totally agree with your post. If god aparently created the earth and everything on it - why the hell did 'god' make all sorts of people and then slag them off in a stupid book of rules that singles out most types of people.

I think that people should agree that religion is now considered old fashioned as more and more things are trying to be accepted in society but there is still religious books that go against this and then make people unsure of what to do.

I am not saying that it is wrong to follow religion either - because there are some stories in the bible that have some meaning in modern society , for example the stories about family life.

It is just a shame that there are so many conflicts in the world today - people say c'mon its the 21st Centuary, but there are still bad things hapening to good people in the world.

For some people (and i think some people here on DS) it is not that they are homeaphobic (sp? - sorry aint needed to spell that b4) but they are just anoyed that there are so many different names for things.

Please feel free to correct me if you think i am wrong in any of my views here...

I do understand what you are saying here johnno and agree to a point. The point I am trying to make though, is that we must allow individuals to choose those labels for themselves, not forced them upon them.

Many gay ppl are proud to stand up and be labelled. You see, it's a form of identification. It's not intended to be a dirty label which what some ppl assume it is to be labelled as gay, or even bisexual. You ppl would have the whole scene go back in the closet and have the straight community go back to labels like shirt lifters and benders because you think all labels, even gay and queer, are non-pc. I can just see it on the equal opportunities forms. How would you describe yourself... oh no... we can't do that, then we have to have labels for ppl. Hmmm.... maybe we can have symbols instead of words because ppl do not want to label themselves for what they are?
You're right, some gay people are happy to stand up, wave flags or whatever and shout it to the world. It isn't a dirty label, but there are a lot of queer people who don't like to be labelled. "Normal" people, in "normal" families (ie the stereotype nuclear family with 2.4 kids, 1.2 cars and a dog - or whatever), they don't have to find labels for themselves. Labelling can still seem to some people to be stating "I'm not normal". I don't know what you mean by 'you people', but I certainly wouldn't have everyone go back in the closet like you say.

When you are comfortable with your sexuality you will not find the label offensive, altho' you would if you are still having problems with it. Just don't then start telling the world that you are uncomfortable with the label, so we should all stop labelling.... and then what?
I'm quite happy with my sexuality, thank you very much, but I don't feel I have to pick a label for it. Does that mean I find the label offensive? Actually, to me, yes it can be sometimes. I'm not saying that the world shouldn't label people, what I am saying is that you can't say there is no such thing as bisexual, which is effectively what you did. We can't force anyone to identify as anything if they don't want to, and trying to make someone self identify could have a very bad effect.

What I don't think anyone's mentioned yet is that there are still plenty of people who are homophobic, and still a lot of 'gay-bashing'. I think we need to get rid of that before worrying about labels.

Oh , yeah, Big Brother. From what I've heard (and I haven't actually heard Adele say anything about it at all yet) she walks down the street fancying men, and is going out with a girl. That's what happens, you end up with a 'person' regardless of their sex just because you 'click' with them.

I can tell you know that there are people who don't like to classify themselves based on who they have sex with.
when I said that, the word know should have been now. Unfortunately I can't edit it

Well I now wish I hadn't started this whole thread off

But it is has really made me think so thanks I guess.

I hope nobody got the impression that I in any way think any less of anybody because of their sexuality... I certainly don't. Live and let live has always been my philosophy.

Also I would just like to add that I am a commited Christian and believe that God has created everybody and loves us all NO MATTER WHAT and whatever way our sexuality lies. I don't want to get flamed for this but I just wanted to put over another view to the offensive one posted earlier.

Just my 2p for what it's worth
