Legal Reasons????

Just watching the live feed which is simulcastin on C4 and E4 and for the past 10 mins it has been stuck on 1 camera with no sound. A message keeps appearing saying the gaps are because of legal reasons. What are these legal reasons? Are they exchanging adresses and phone numbers or dissing the royal family or something?

I guess that if the housemates were speculating about the sexual persuasion of a member of parliament or someone or generally being slanderous, I guess CH4 / E4 would be liable

There are various reasons. They could be swearing or making comments about celebrities, politicians or even their own aquaintancies or workmates. Maybe they are making comments about a commercial product. I know they cut the sound when they were referring to problems they had experienced with their cars.

Although many of these subjects may not be illegal, they could cause C4 some legal problems if the parties were to take issue with the comments uttered by the individuals. C4 would be seen as the broadcasters and so would be liable in such circumstances.

What legal reasons exactly ?
Tonight (1st eviction) channel 4 have no sound and jump between frisby playing in the living room and the chat in the bedroom still with no sound, yet if I switch to E4 interactive I can get sound from the bedroom chat on feed B loud and clear!
So why the 'legal reasons' message with a sound blackout on one channel and not the other????

Possibly more technical problems?

Also - is anyone actually paying for the live webfeeds (two less than last year!) and is the audio censored to the same extent as on the tv broadcasts?

If the lousy official website is anything to go by (no rating of contestants most of the time I log on) then I don't expect many takers for the live webfeed at £9.99 a month!

iv notaced that they often leave a conversation if their is some bitchin goin on. This could be for two reasons:

*They wanna keep the good stuff for higlight shows, or
*They dont want to show to much bitchin, to prevent showing people as right bitches.

Am I right in thinking, that the Web Feed doesn't get the sound cut?

Partially... it seems the only thing they cut on the web is personal information relating to the housemates friends and family... they left in some talk from Spencer saying that the guy who was BB tonight was <insert name that I forget> "who went drinking with me"..

Can some one tell me if the lack of sound on the live streaming is due to copyright laws as they are playing music
i am still getting live picture - they have been dancing around the place

very likely - tight fisted sods wouldn't pay to broadcast the birdie song on E4 so muted it there, during the musical chairs

I think your right. The laws regarding TV broadcasts probably dont apply on a live internet feed.

The music was muted on the Web feed just as on the TV.

This is what I find most annoying. I was watching the live coverage on C4 on Friday night and as soon as things actually started getting slightly interesting (Adele discussing Kate with Alex), they cut the sound.

It'd be libel.
But it wouldn't: there's no law to stop people saying "i wonder if (so-and-so) is a buggerer/homosexual etc"

The legal reasons are virtually certainly NOTHING TO DO WITH LIBEL (can't be sure without hearing the words, but it's so unlikely formany reasons which I have outlined before, and can do so again)

It's more likely it's to do with outsiders' privacy etc
