How LIVE is E4?
Having just (11:20pm) heard Davina tell the housemates "please do not swear, you are LIVE on Channel 4", I'm now wondering how LIVE the house really is. The current programme, according to the Sky EPG has been on since 10:35 and BB isn't due back on til 00:10.
What's going on? |

On the LIVE (Task & Eviction) C4 shows there is a 5-15second delay. On the Big Brother Live shows there is a 12-15 minute delay.

It seems to vary but I've noticed that it's usually 14 minutes and 30 seconds behind on E4.

Are you sure you weren't watching the hightlights feeds from yeaterday - or it could it have been one of Alison's very good impressions?! I don't think Davina works on a saturday night and she wouldn't tell them not to swear at 11:20pm would she? Anyway the E4 feed is, according to the housemates clock - which could be a few minutes out, about 15 mins behind. |

I think it probably WAS one of the housemate's impressions - they are surprisingly good at it

I remember seeing a bit at just before 10:30pm live at the end of CH4's Friday night show and then seeing the same bit again "live" on E4 at 10:45pm! A 15 *second* delay would be acceptable. 15 *minutes* is not (IMO).

They need the 15 minute delay to censor out anything that could be classed as free advertising or product placement, language or actions that are not acceptable pre-watershed and the like. Why is 15 minutes not acceptable, you're still going to see what happens, just 15 minutes later. |

I am a little confused
E4 I know is about 12-15 mins delay, but I was visiting a friend who has subscribed to the video stream from Channel4/RealOne he showed me that the Web Streams are about 30secs - 2mins behind E4 for this reason he is considering cancelling the streaming subscription, but there are very few cuts in the audioso he has not fully made his mind up yet!, |

I'm confused by the above. The web feed is live, but was a 15 minute delay at Lynn leaving the house, and the housemates task tonight. You hear them mention the time and it matches the clocks here....
Hmm someone unconfuse me |

Maybe Big Brother has adjusted the clocks (forward by 15 min) so it looks live on E4?

im pretty sure that e4 is delayed by about 15 mins, and the web feeds are delyed a couple minutes more than that. as far as i know they werent allowed any clocks in the house. although there was a clock on the cooker which they had to set themselves.

Why is 15 minutes not acceptable, you're still going to see what happens, just 15 minutes later. I guess the novelty value of being able to tune in (almost) any time of day or night to see live coverage from the house is dampened slightly when you realise it's not really live at all. But yes I agree you still see what happens - well except when they censor it. (Campbell scores for England!!! )
