Wouldn't it be fun if someone else was to walk give Alex Dad a chance, that would be so good to watch.

Wow, what a great idea! Can you imagine him surrounded by the other housemates talking about the bullsh*t that gets discussed? I think he'd try and convert them into *proper* young people for a couple of days, then give up and leave the house a broken man......

It would be fantastic. Alex's dad reminded me of a character from The League of Gentlemen

Anyone remember Tory Boy from Harry Enfield? Now you know who his dad is...

did anyone see BBLB last week when alex's dad was on and dom jolly asked him if he voted conservative. It was hilarious, I think alex is so parinoid about perfection because of the way his parents have drummed it into him

I thought Alex's dad was brilliant. He stood up for what he believed in, and in my opinion made Dom Joly's point of view appear shallow and facile.

I didn't see Alex's dad, but on the subject of standing up for what one believes in, I think one has to admire this in Alex even if you don't agree with his principle. He's not afraid to say what he means at the risk of being unpopular. I think the self aware, ironic way he stated his reasons when nominating was hilarious and impressive. He knows what people are thinking and he doesn't give a sh*t. He's uncompromising. He should get to stay and continue to stir it up, but of course, he'll be out by a landslide by people who don't consider the vital drama element and base their vote totally on personal dislike.

I thought I was the only one who saw it like that...

However, seeing as we both come from Essex that may have something to do with it. Of course not; that stereotype would be shallow and facile.

I like the way the unilateral celebrity ego sometimes operates in opposition to lowly laymen. It's a superficial confidence trick. I thought Dom Joly was more observed than that. Hardly satire was it?

Phoenix, ellison, I saw it like that as well. Mind you I'm not a fan of Dom Joly so it was good to see someone tell him to shut it

Even so it is nice to see that people do still stand up for what they believe in, rather than bowing to pressure from others, even when they are on a 24/7 gameshow...

I found the exchange amusing but I don't think either party came across particularly well.

Alex's Dad was courageous for sure, but courage can be foolish - heckling a TV presenter is like heckling a comedian, only worse. Ultimately they are running the show and can make you look like an idiot.

To me, Dom Joly succeeded in making him look like a pompous old fool, and it certainly didn't endear me to Alex. If Alex's father had been thinking about his son's chances rather than his own ego then he would have kept his mouth shut.
