I think this year the 'X factor' is an extended show.
In this weeks Tv Times there is a small feature on the show, saying that 75 000 have applied this year, and that the series will be back in four weeks with each judge having four finalists in their category this year, instead of three, to take through to the live shows.

Why doesn't it seem likely? There's only 11 days between the 20th of August and the beginning of September. Why shouldn't it start earlier?
