Is it fair that the people who see 30 minutes per day of BB on Channel 4 should have the same voting rights as those who watch E4 for several hours per day?

Surely those with E4 and, indeed, an internet connection, will be much better placed to make an *educated* decision, rather than a choice based almost entirely on what edited highlights Channel 4 decide to show?

So are you saying that those watching E4 should have more voting rights than those just watching C4, or simply that C4 aren't being fair with the amount of footage we see?

If you're saying the former then I don't agree - that would be like punishing those who don't have E4. As for C4 not being fair, well even they are showing more live footage this year than they have previously, albeit late at night.

I think people will think they have made an educated decision on who to vote for no matter what they are watching, and then they'll all argue about it anyway at work, on the 'net, in the pub...

Was being sarcastic in my comment too I can see where E4 viewers may have a more indepth knowledge of the contestents than C4 viewers.

What about people who have E4, but only watch the Channel 4 coverage because they're at work etc, and don't have time to watch much daytime coverage?

I can honestly say that I've never been called anyones girl friend before!

Seriously, I'm not saying that people who don't have E4 should be punished - far from it. C4 is more widely available, while E4 is a subscription-based optional extra. If anything, It should be those with C4 that carry the most weight.

But this is where there is a potential problem. I've seen all of the C4 programmes, and on most days I've watched several hours of E4 and discussed things on this forum the previous day (I can do this at the moment because I'm off work after a bad car crash!). I feel that the edited highlights on C4 sometimes show the main facts, but can't show the context around which those events took place. It may be great TV to show someone having a snap at someone else, but C4 can't show the 2 hour heated argument that lead to this outburst. This is only an example and I'm not referring to an actual event, but can you see my point? While E4 viewers may be able to make a better judgement based on the facts, it is likely that the viewers of C4 will have more votes.

Maybe there should be much more coverage free-to-air on C4? That would certainly even things out?

C4/E4 & Endemol do not care whether you watch BB3 or not, you can vote, they are in it for the revenue!, at 25p per vote, and those who wish to can vote as many times as they like, but it will be another 25p for each vote.

On Last Saturday's Eviction it was stated that 1.2million votes were recieved at 25p each (5p is actually call cost that leaves 20p BB3 Voting Revenue) that will be £300,000.00 for 1 week.

They are not going restrict voting and lose profits, think about it, this is a gameshow nothing really serious.

Even people who watch live feeds or read all the news on the web that C4 doesn't mention disagree and see the housemates differently, so it's not that big an advantage for making an informed decision

I don't think I'd bother to watch BB if I only had access to Ch. 4. Half an hour a day & only what Ch. 4 want you to see!

on topic... of course the voting is not fair! For the reasons u mention, those only watching those scandalously distorted edits on BB/C4 will have their opinions and choices made for them... and it was always that way anyway! The first housemates commented that they were shocked by the edits which had them labelled deliberately according to the roles that BB had asumed for them from the start. And so what is new for BB3? Nothing - they have designed BB3, and puppet roles for each of the housemates in advance.

The only consolation is that things can and do go wrong which must have BB in a tizzy from time to time, but their edits can easily get them back on track by making sure the public see only the bits which confirm the stereotypes they have invented for each housemate.

Although that is true, I dont believe that BB/C4 have a stereotypical view of each of the housemates, otherwise the outcome would be preset and the programmers would be in for a great number of lawsuits, such as the BBC program recently paid out to one of their contestants.

although the BB contestants have signed an agreement to accept the BB/C4 editing of actual footage as to what the producers wish to show, which some of them were discussing this morning.

The voting is designed to raise money, at 25p a time, plus the mobile text alerts, and numerous other money spinning services in connection with BB3. it is estimated that BB3 is generating over £250,000 a week in profits, thats after production costs, thats not bad marketing really is it.

You cant stop someone voting because they only see half of what we see. From the hoghlights on c4 it shows what everyone has said and biched about, so both sides get a fair opinion.
