I completely agree that this paragraph is confusing. ... not helped by the strange inappropriate verb tense.[which was what I was marking ]
It would have been much better presented as a bulleted list.
Being generally used to the Pansonic 'style' that they normally adopt in the manuals, the way I interpret this 'paragraph' is a series of completely unrelated 'notes' which all apply as restrictions when Dubbing [ irrespective of speed ] ... and that these limitations apply specifically to these media [ -R +R -RW ] and do not apply to the others .. i.e. RAM and HDD.
In other words , the sentence about recoding from an external unit has no relation with any other sentence and only is being referred to in regard to bilingual selection.
There is no question it could be a lot clearer. Here we are studying it hard and still uncertain of our interpretation!
My growing impression though from all the evidence is that it never records in Widescreen on those mentioned media, no matter what recording techniques are used.
