Alcohol on BB3
Fudge
04-06-2002
Was alcohol available in such large amounts early on in on BB1 or 2, as they seem to be pickling in it this time around?

I only saw the latter part of BB2, but booze seemed to be used sparingly to try to get the housemates to break down barriers they wouldn't otherwise let go, such as the meals for two night.

i went thro a bottle of red myself last night, so I'm not arguing against alcohol in the house! BUT the sheer volume BB has plied them with this BB is suspicious. They might as well have set up a bar for them in the corner! I honestly don't see why? I don't think it's made for better viewing or anything... anyone any theories?!!

Now a bar in the house, that would be an interesting addition.
Maybe for the Heaven/Hell split? Would reall rub it in for those in Hell.

All it seems to be doing is help them sleep more often and longer, so unless BB have a VERY clever twist in store such as the Heaven/Hell scenario, I think they have judged this really badly.

They do seem a lot more generous this time round with the treats. The easy task then the reward hamper, the Indian/Chinese etc. Maybe the thought is the rewards will be grater but if they fail a task or transgress the punishment will be a lot more severe. such as the basic rations regime, the three strikes and also the heaven/hell idea if that appears later

i think they are getting it too soft...be prepared for a alcohol/treat ban from big brother

Is the psychology behind this not that if Big Brother is viewed by the group early on to be generous, they will come to rely on 'him' more and more. Later on then when Big Brother becomes more demanding, they are much more compliant, remembering how generous Big Brother can be.

The are much more likely to go along with a heaven/hell house if earlier on they are treated very well.

A possible theory - any psycholgists who can comment on this?

I have 2 theories. Either Big Brother has something very shocking up his sleeve or C4 just aren't bothered this time round as they know we addicts will watch paint dry in the house. I very much hope the first theory is true as I don't think I can stand another week of this complete and utter boredom. It would be good though, lulling the housemates into a false sense of security and then whammo!

Maybe I was wise by accident in only catching the last few weeks of BB2, as the lack of any tasks and the increasing 'laddishness' of those who will probably survive the course this time, added to the impossible task of following any conversation with E4 cutting the sound so often, is fast losing this viewer. Perhaps they will become different when only a few are left in the house.

They do sleep longer, but they also stay up later, and in my experience the late night conversations are much more entertaining than the 8am ones... plus we can actually hear them.. :-p

I think they are all going to be leaving the house with the shakes.
Tut tut BB you will probably land a huge bill for their rehab programmes.
