My girlfriend is with O2, and always has loads of credit on her mobile which she never uses... Anyway, i decided to vote on her mobile and it cost £1.60!

Shit, it shouldn't be that expensive. It said on the BB Website that all messages cost 25p + the cost of the message sent (i.e. 10p). I've just voted via text but im on contract so I don't know how much it cost.

CH4 should bear a responsibilty to fans who are calling in to vote by mobile phone. They should have printed an 'easy-to-locate' listing for the various charges for contract and pay-as-you-go phones to include all networks.

However, I don't think "mobile rates vary" is justification to charge individuals the fees quoted above. I have watched for three years and have never voted on BB. Ever!

A demographic of these mobile voters are innocents who will think nothing at paying £1.60 per call.

I have genie/o2 payg and can confirm that it cost exactly 25p which was charged on reciept of the confirmation message rather than the sending of the VOTE message.

But it's not C4's responsibility if the mobile networks and service providers are charging extortionate sums of money for 090#s.
They get just under 25p per call - with a few pence going to your phone company - but the mobile operators are putting more on top of this.

But do you normally pay for SMS or is it inclusive on or tarrif? The SMS charge is 25p on top of your normal charge - so if that is free/inclusive you only pay 25p.

Last year I voted via phone on my mobile. Cost me £1.90, rip-off. I learnt my lesson, im now using my mums house phone

I think that BB voting is and can be a very expensive past time. (especially for parents phone bills!)

It would have been nice to see the cost of the vote come down to a modest 10pence per vote.

Calling from home cost 10p for the last two years. And it goes to show that if there's money to be made then CH4 will exploit the situation. Vote wisely.
