I thought the nominations took place this afternoon. If this is so why are they featured on tonights BB when it runs a day behind?

The nominations took place Monday afternoon - not today.

Today they were told the results of the nomination process!

were the nomination results broadcast live on E4? or did they dub in the usual bird twittering/plane going over sounds

Sorry - I didn't see that live so I have no idea - they did show some reactions on BBLB tonight & had some of it recorded on the interactive feed later on.
