Cheapest 28" Widescreen CRT Please?
I have limited funds and am looking for a 28" widescreen telly for the bedroom. The cheapest I can find so far is at Asda (Durabrand TV £154, Stand £28 = Total £182).
Is there a better deal elsewhere? Thanks! |

Try ebuyer.com, they usually have really cheap decent televisions.

Reports here have often stated the VFM quality of Beko.

Tescos have a Bush for either £ 140 or £ 160. You can get a stand from Richer Sounds for a tenner

Been looking around myself
Sainsburys have the Bush 6693D 28" WS with built in freeview for £159 - however you might have trouble getting one as they were all sold out near me. Tesco have the same Bush TV WITHOUT the freeview ( 6680SIL) for £159. Tesco and Argos both have Philips 28" WS (28PW6008) for £199. Sainsburys apparently have a Panasonic Flat screen for £200 but I do know know what model. Argos have a Beko 28" for £149. None of these have stands but as said you can pick them up cheaply - official stands can be a ripoff - Argos sell that philips above with stand for £269.99 - so in other words £70 for the stand |

"Reports here have often stated the VFM quality of Beko"
What does this mean? Does anyone know if you can adjust the colour and sharpness controls on the Bush with RGB ON - in other words can the picture be changed with RGB ON? On Asda's Durabrand/Pacific 28" the controls move but the picture stays the same, hence me having to have RGB OFF on this model to change sharpness, etc. With the Panasonic TX range this isn't so. Thanks. |

Regarding the value for money position, I have seen a few TVs advertised on the Comet warehouse site for sale without stand. If you don't need a stand, the go for it.
The Philips 28PW6518 is £259.95 (including stand) online order with standard delivery. This is the only model that was rated as a best buy (Issue 292 of WHAT VIDEO AND WIDESCREEN TV) That has actually made it to a big store. When I enquired at Currys, the reply was: "We don't do that one." I replied: "But is has a 5 star rating." The sales guy said: "Sorry but we just don't have it." Now... if a model get a 3 star rating insead of 4 or 5, it won't sell so easily. So... do the importers sell these products en masse to the big name stores to get rid of them quickly? |
