WH: The Aztecs

Still traces of the series original intention to be educational and not a BEM show.

PT: The Mind Robber

Still ahead of it's time even now, Makes Lost seem positively normal.

JP: The Three Doctors
Cool idea, amusingly realised with great chemistry between PT and JP. And I had to pick at least one ep with Katy Manning in

TB:Genesis of the Daleks
Davros' first and best appearance. Probably two episodes too long and containing a cheat on one of the cliffhangers but still cool.

PD: Kinda
Simon Rouse has great fun playing lunacy while Nerys Hughes shows what a good assistant she'd have made.

CB: Caves of Androzani!

He gets the best regeneration line ever "You were expecting someone else?"

It all went downhill from there

SM: Rememberence of the Daleks

The oversize pepperpots being trashed by Ace and her baseball bat. T.F.G.

CE: The Doctor Dances

Funny and scary at the same time and "everybody lives"

You could give CB Revelation of the Daleks, surely?

It's been a while since I've seen it to be honest.

I hated CB's debut, The Twin Dilemna and really really disliked The Trial of a Time Lord, despite Tony Selby's entertaining turn as Glitz, (Selby would have made a good doctor). Peri's exit was very unsatisfying.

If I really really had to pick one, I'd go for the Cyberman story though this was marred by unnecessary graphic violence, i.e. the crushing of Lytton's hands.

Yes, her fake bald look wasn't too hot there, either. And I think it is a truth to be universally acknowledged (to paraphrase dear old JA) that The Twin Dilemma was one of the worst ever stories in the whole DW canon.

You don't have to pick one, Dek, please, I don't mean to be cruel Still, check out Revelation again one day, it is certainly one of the better 80's stories, for all that is saying .....

Just looking at your list again, I like your choice of The Mind Robber for Pat Troughton, that was a bit Mighty Boosh-y in its peculiarities. I did like PT's final outing in the epic War Games too, all ten episodes!

OK, here goes....

Overall(ie not split into individual Doctors)

Rose Just for the sheer "Oh. My. God. He's back!" factor.
Genesis of the Daleks Perfect.
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances Nearly perfect.
Remembrance of the Daleks If only for Ace battling a Dalek with her baseball bat. That's how to really deal with the beggars.
Earthshock No particular reason...
The Two Doctors Well, I like it.

According to the Doctor Who Dynamic Rankings website, Twin Dilemma is voted the worst story followed by Timelash (a fan joke says that it is an anagram of something nasty).Time and the Rani is third with the Tom Baker story Underworld being fourth. Delta and the Bannermen (on UKTV Gold this Saturday morning) completes the top five.

Nine stories out of the Top Ten are either Tom Baker or Eccleston stories with 'The Caves of Androzani' being fifth. What is ironic about it is that it was the story that preceded Twin Dilemma, meaning that you have the worst story of all time following one of the very best!

By the way, the Cyberman story that you are talking about is called 'Attack of the Cybermen', the first story of Season 22.

I'm working on that Timelash anagram!

I can't remember much about Underworld, but Horns of Nimon was the Tom Baker I detested as a child, it drove me away from the series for a while. The other 4 sound about right, although personally I'd put the two McCoy ones as the worst.

I haven't seen too many past Doctor stories but my favourites have been -

Dalek Invasion of Earth
The Tomb of the Cybermen (absolute classic)
The Mind Robber (the first episode is maybe one of the finest Who's ever)
The Green Death
The Three Doctors (mindless fun!)
Genesis
Revelation
Talons (my favourite 'period' Who)
Earthshock
Caves of Androzani

Notice they're nearly all DVD released ones because that's all I've seen, and there are no McCoy ones because Fenric just didn't do it for me and that's the only one of his I've seen (I'm gonna check out Rememberance).

As for the 9th Doctor, my favourite eps were The Unquiet Dead (written by The League of Gentlemen's Mark Gatiss), The End of the World and Dalek. Dalek is particularly excellent and did the near-impossible in making the pepperpots real and threatening again. Christopher Eccleston was the best in that episode, especially his scene with the chained Dalek, which is definitely classic Doctor Who.
