Please can some1 help. I have had this tv for 4 years now and the picture has always been on the dark side. I never noticed how dark until i bought a cheapie 28" for the bedroom. I don't know how much i've missed watching this JVC. I have done some searches today about it and read something about RGB, but it does'nt say how i can brighten up the picture. Im not much of a tech head so if any1 knows what to do, i would b for ever grateful for ur help. Thnx in advance.

Is your screen a curved widescreen?
If it is, it is there nature to be on the dull side, but if its flat CRT there could be a problem. Normally flat CRT's are more vibrant i.e great contrast and colours.
And as far as RGB goes there is not much you can change in the way of settings. You only find those options on LCD or plasma or DLP TV's, but if you have Sky I think you can change RGB contrast settings in the STB box menu.
If that comes to no avail, it could just could be your cables. Old cables can oxidise (oxygen reacts with the copper in the cable) overtime and hold the signal back.

As a rule, CRT TV's should have contrast setting of 75% and brightness of around 35% (These are good settings, to stop whites from flaring, and to produce deep blacks)
If you find this too dark when your watching dodgy late night Channel 4 telly, it could be a message from the telly gods to buy a new TV! Sorry. Someone had to say it.

Good luck

Tyvm for taking time to reply , but the tv has been like this since i got it 4 years ago. New cost then was £780. I never really noticed how bad it was until i bought a 28" toshiba for the bedroom, it is 10 times better picture and it cost £179. The 32" widescreen JVC is a flat screen 50hz. I have changed the RGB in the Sky menu but it makes the picture alot less defined but does make it slightly brighter. Could changing the scart cable to a more expensive 1 help at all. Again, ty for trying to solve my problem, its very muched appreciated .
