Tripods - 2 way vs 3 way / 2D vs 3D

Whats the difference between 2 way or 2D tripods and 3 way or 3D ones?

A 2Way tripod has up/down movement via adjustable legs and/or the centre column and rotates 360degrees.

A 3Way adds up/down tilt of the centre platform.

That makes sence but I read:

2D pan & tilt head, so it does tilt. Sorry for the confusion.

That looks fine, but, if you have a Jessops Photographic store near you go and look at them in the flesh.......you may save on the p&p.

thanks, i will..seen it cheaper elsewhere but the description and pic was good there. cheers...think i will plump for this one as the remote control looks a good addition for my sony camera!
