Philip Olivier Joins Hollyoaks
Taken from Metro North East Rumour Mill apparently, was not aware it had one! Quote:
Ex Brookside star Philip Olivier has sensationally agreed to join Hollyoaks this winter playing THE SAME CHARACTER that he played in the axed soap. Tim' Tinhead' O'Leory has been draughted into the ailing soap in an attempt to boost ratings. Olivier was reportedly seen in meetings with bosses last month but has only just signed. Philip will start filming in September and will be seen entering Hollyoaks via helicopter in dramatic style, he will soon begin to cause trouble with newlyweds Jake and Becca Dean when his noisy antics drive the pair crazy. Bosses are hoping the hunk will be a replacement for Marcus Patric who, it was confirmed recently, is to leave the show in October. Hollyoaks will celebrate its 10th anniversary in October and producers are planning a major cast clearout

well it's been done already, characters from Brookie appearing in Hollyoaks. Cameos and the like. Matt Musgrove even moved from Brookside Close down to Chester to become a 'Oaks regular. Would it not get confusing that Tinhead moves to the same place that a former neighbour lived. Oh and his best mate is now a fireman. And his doctor had an identical twin who died of liver poisoning? And didnt Sarah Dunn (Mandy) play a character in brookie briefly?
Matt worked because he was an underused character in brookie. His family left the close and with that any reason for him to stick around. Phil Olivier is known for more than Tinhead these days anyway. I would think he's more likely to come into it as a whole new character. |

He doesn't need to be a new character, as either people will remember Tinhead or they won't. He wasn't one of these characters who was unpopular or loathed, so the connotation would either be neutral or positive or mean nothing to the viewers. Seeing as Phil Redmond has already introduced Matt Musgrove I am going to guess Philip Olivier will be playing Tinhead should he appear in the 'Oaks!

Well Matt Musgrove was underused in both Brookie and Hollyoaks really.
Im not sure if Tinhead will work in hollyoaks, he got a bit annoying towards the end of Brookie. |

But the story is that he lands in a helicoptor, whats the reason behind that? Would you just pick a random place to fly into, or is there some-one there he will be associated with, how old is Tinhead supposed to be?

No, he was there last week when Ben came back to work trying to set up a bet on how long he'd stick it. Ben found out.
I don't think transferring any character to another soap would be totally non-believable. People do move and Chester is only a hubcap throw from Liverpool, and Manchester (or Wetherfield) wouldn't be too far ! Old Crossroads characters could appear in Doctors too ! |

The story also says Hollyoaks is an 'ailing soap', but the last time I checked it was gaining viewers. The first look show on E4 is in the top 10 multichannel programmes everyday sometimes even making number 1. I really would take the story with a pinch of salt. |

I thought that the ratings had gone up a bit, the story lines are getting better. But I don't see that putting a character from a soap with completely different audiences and themes into Hollyoaks would boost the ratings. |

Mmmm. I think it will work fine - lots of Scousers live in Chester, and he's stunningly handsome and will make more than a replacement for Marcus Patric in the hunk stakes...
