More varied age group?

All of the housemates this year) apart from two are in their 20's. Do you think BB should have introduced a more varied age group - perhaps having half of the group in their early to late 30's?

Yes!

I'm forty-two, does that make me too old for BB. So far from what I've seen a couple of 65 year old grannies would be more exciting. The youngsters so far have had no get up and go. Apart from alison and she's gone.

think of the mix of the last 2 POPULAR series in terms of age, job, background and other stuff. Why have they deliberately chosen a bigger crew of dim early 20 somethings. Error or by design? They now have to answer to us all for that decision - I wanna know why!

Pass me the cyanide pills - too young for a pension but too old to be interesting !!

Problem is....

If housemates were older, they would be less likely to obey the rules (look at Sandy for an example), less manipulated for the TV cameras - they would also be more likely to make an effective team and organise themselves against big brother.

The problem with the under 30s is that they are very easily led and simply do whatever they are told. They are also crap at making their own entertainment.

Discuss.

They should make it more varied, there should have been more people in their 30s/40s, it should have been more even in age than what it is just now as by making most of then so young has caused a huge age gap with sandy

As an oldie (over 40) and a previous poster, I also thnk the spread of ages has not been adequate. However I do think that Sandy does not appear to have the strength of character that you would expect from someone who had been in the forces.
I was in the RN, and in the earlier days, 70's,80's we made our own entertainment. However by the 90's life seemed to revolve around the video recorder and it was mainly the over 30's who kept morale going.

Perhaps we are now living in an age where we expect to be entertained and peoples own imaginations are lacking. Hence the need for drugs etc?

Hopefully things will liven up soon.

Having seen and heard the vacuous people who selected the BB housemates on 'How not to get on BB', I think that this would have been a wonderful turn of events. But since the selectors are just airheads, there is no chance of it happening, as they have mainly chosen 'people like us' , i.e. the production team.

I agree that a larger range of ages would have been more interesting. People of around Sandy's age are generally more at ease with themselves, and better equipped to cope with the whole experience.

BB have picked a particularly dimwitted (being polite here!) bunch this year, although it's not really the age of those they have selected that's letting them down, it's the levels of intelligence and common sense. You'll find there are lots of people in the same age group as this shower of fools that are much more interesting. I'm 25 and the last time I met anyone who was on the HM's level I was at school.

Totally agree with you Sarah. The last two BBs have had a far more interesting range of characters - this lot are just too samey, rather thick and dull as ditch water. It certainly doesn't make for the most scintillating viewing.
