Captain Jack's memories - an idea.

I was just thinking about how RTD may be planning to deal with the story involving Captain Jack's missing memories and I had an idea. What if the Doctor and Rose were somehow involved in their removal? At some point during season two they could encounter him, however it would be him from before they first met, as the story progresses they would work with him to solve some problem however there would come a point when they realise that what has happened will change the past/his future. At this point they make the decision to somehow erase his memory. If this is the case it also explains why he was left on the Gamestation since his actually being around at the time would rather confuse matters.

The Timelords have the ability to erase people's memories (they did so to Jamie and Zoe at the end of The War Games) so maybe it has something to do with them?

Of course, so did Geocomtex, so maybe it has something to do with them instead.

But if they had met Jack before, then why when they met him (again) in the empty child, would Rose go all soppy over him and try to make the Doctor jealous, as though she has just met someone new.

Or doesn't this work? I find the Time travel apects of stories pretty hard to make sense of!

They haven't met him yet as it is their future, but since it is his past, he has met them, but can't remember them...

Like Salford_Who said, Jack met them in his past, but cos his memories were wiped doesn't remember. Rose and the Doctor don't remember because for them it hasn't happened yet - they time travel to Jack's past AFTER he is abandoned at the Game Station. It's all to do with paradoxes, which make your head hurt .

If the script writers decide to go with this.

This would be a good idea....I don't think it matter too much who does the memory wiping..that could be done to fit into the story. But the idea of Rose and the Doctor, in their future, meeting up with Captain Jack in his past is great.

They wouldn't have to necessarilly wipe his memory as it could be done by some other organisation/person, an event which would be able to upset Rose as she could have formed a proper relationship with him and effectively lost him again (after all she will believe he die on the space station.

In comfort the Doctor could say that they would have had to d o any way so not to change the future...

...but anyway this wouldn't have to be the end of Captain Jack as we know he is still on that space station.

I meant to add that he could remove the memories himself in some sacrificial gesture, or it could be like that Red Dwarf episode where they lose two days of their lives but eventually discover that they erased their own memory because they really didn't want to remember what happened.
