To be honest, I already betting that the big meme for next series has been found by young distantdave (well done Sir ). Have you tried seeing if there are any websites registered to the Beeb with those numbers?

I don't think there were any specific threads, but it was discussed on the huge weekly episode threads that were going when the series was shown.

I didn't mean I had read it on here, I read it in an interview somewhere - probably with RTD or someone like that - after the end of the series.

I've just done a search on this forum and here is a LINK TO THE THREADS it comes up with. I suggest you search both threads for 236801 to find the actual posts.

Found it - the numbers were also stamped on the back of the set for AOL/WW3, where there was no chance we would ever see it. So yes, I'm sticking by the idea that it was an in-joke. See pic #3, here:

There's that and the fact the RTD has confirmed in DW magazine thst the meme for next series will be an anagram already heard (ie. spoken by a character) in Series 1.

Which we think we've already guessed (or rather Dave did )

I knew I'd seen something about it on the official site, and have just trawled through while watching BB6 cheerleaders (Craig - not your best look, really). Nearly tore hair out, as hunted high and low, a-ha, but finally discovered on the Website survey results story on the News archives:

“And, for those who asked, 23-6-801 started as a mistake on the Psalm board in episode 8, and became a bit of misleading fun. But thanks for all your theories on that one.”

You're very welcome! I remember some fascinating theories at the time, though, including that it referred to episode 6 of series 23, 801 seconds in... Marvellous stuff! I must admit having googled back then on any great historic events that occurred on June 23 801, or 1801, though
