Does anyone agree that the Dr truman and zoe love storyline is the worst so farr this year?

In the space of a few months zoe ran off became a prostitute, kat tried to kill her self and then when zoe returns everyone
tiptoes around her and kat is a wreck for a while, so what happened to the tip toeing? allready there at each other and no one else in the family seems to care if zoe clears off or if kat tries to kill herself again!.

Ship out the old storyline and bring in a new one, What next !

The Dr Truman rubbish will end up with a qualified Dr 'ducking and diving' stupid jobs.

the EE writers are devoid of any original stories at the moment and seem incapable of writing stories for a couple that doesn't involve infidelity. Of course this is symptomatic of the whole ethos of EE being written from an anti-malke perspective.

I've never been a fan of the show but it has never irritated me to the point that it does now

After watching the old episodes on UKGold (from late 1997 at the moment) I must say the stories are far better.

Ian has just returned from Italy after snatching his kids back from Cindy. Barry has lost £100k to Vanessa. Phils about to hit the bottle again and Frank is about to return.

Whatsmore there is more great storylines to come. The big fight between Pat&Peggy over Frank and Sasikas murder to name two.

Eastenders doesn't seem to have had a storyline of that quality since Phil was shot.

Oh yes I agree! The Zoe/Ant storyline has to be the absolute worst storyline of the year so far, along with Beth Morgan's rape storyline in Hollyoaks.

I would not mind the lovely Anthony being my Dr- he has got a lovely bedside manner I do agree the story line is rubbish. I tape the omnibus and then fast forward the bits i dont want to see.

They're scraping the barrel with 4/5 epsiodes a week (coronation street is expanding to 5 a week for most af the autumn- shuoldn't they be cutting back to 3 a week?). They are having problems with it. They should be cutting back these shows to decent amounts of epsiodes every week. I hope they do. I have to say that the classic soaps on UK Gold and granada plus are of far higher quality than they are now. That's because they are on a decent amount of times each week and weren't scraping for extra storylines and trying to stretch others over an extra episode. I aggree with EE on UK Gold we have passed some great storylines and still have many more to come. When UK Gold get into mid-2001 (which will be some time in 2004) that's when the good storylines will end and we will get to the "4 times a week, stretching resources to cover friday's episode" era. IMO the firday Ep of EE and the sunday ep of Corrie should be dropped, as well as emmerdale cutting back to 3 times a week. 4 and 5 is way too much. Brookie has got the idea staying 3 times a week, but the show has been going downhill for the last 2 or 3 years anyway, and now Since March it's basically hollyoaks set in Liverpool, it's terrible and I can see why the axe is hovering.

Totally agree with everything you've said there - I also think 3 times a week is the perfect amount for a soap. I definately think soaps on more than three times a week should cut down, but it's not likely to happen as the shows still draw extremely high viewing figures for the channels thus bringing in a lot of advertising revenue. I think this is partly due to force of habit - viewers will still watch the soaps they are 'into' regularly even when the stories go sour.

Having said all this, I think that at the moment most soaps are just in 'troughs' - all soaps have peaks and troughs. EastEnders had been superb up until about a month or 2 ago - all the Slater storylines have been excellent, and the comedy is finally picking up, with the Dot and Jim double act. However, it seems they are just low on ideas at the moment, with loads of affairs and boring characters such as Precious.

It is the worst 'Enders storyline ever...I *cringe* whenever Dr Truman and Zoe kiss. Who on earth was responsible for the storyline? Talk about 'zero cheminstry!'

As we've all read in the papers, Michelle Ryan, who plays Zoe has had a bit of a breakdown and is resting from Eastenders....and as a results the Truman/Slater wedding scenes weren't filmed.

I totally agree that there is no chemistry whatsoever between the two actors, which is a shame as the actor who plays Dr Trueman, has the potential to be a great character, along with his brother and dad. I think Zoe dresses really badly, looks like a cheap tart and for some reason her hair always looks greasy. Its all getting totally boring. Kat Slater who started off with sucha strong storyline is turning into a relentless banshee, coincidentally also extremely badly dressed and with dreadful hair. not that I am obssessed with looks but they just make me cringe. its getting to the stage where I just dont bother watchinga lot of the time.

the other storyline which also also cringeworthy is the affair between phil and lisa....dearie me....

Good point-what are the chances of somebody having an affair with somebody who tried to shoot them dead a year ago?

One colomnist wrote that the soap should be renamed "The Slaters" & I agree. Mind you I havn't watched that much of it since I got Sky

jobley..count yourself lucky you don`t live in the US. We get EE via BBC-America and to put it bluntly BBC-A treat the viewers like crap! Last year we got an episode of EE, then directly after it we got EE- the Early years from 1987 3 times a week.. Since EE has been shown 4 times a week, BBC-A in their infinate wisdom took off the Early Years and then gave us omnibus editions on Sunday morning 11am - 1.30, then repeated the following Friday 3pm - 5.30.
Well just last week BBC-A took off Sundays edition of EE and that just left us with Fridays. Instead now we get countless, and I mean countless repeats of Ground Force and Changing Rooms instead. The EE fans in America are outraged at being treated this way and have signed an online petition about it.
Also as well we have to wait an extra week for EE as last Fridays was a repeat. So we`re even further back on EE than we were originally.
