The contestants can leave at any time they like just by walking out a door, but Big Brother could be a bit more asertive to them and try and persude them to stay. ”

They got Sandy to stay a bit longer, and tried with Sunita, but they both come across as fairly strong willed people who had already made up their minds. Lee mentioned it, spoke to BB and a couple of housemates and seemed to have decided to stay. Still catching up on all this mornings news...

They've been too nice over all (ie too much booze) and too mean over little things (Jades shampoo). They should take down the bars and make the whole house poor as a punishment for a week. Then they can start again.
They could win stuff through longer tasks - body painting or something? Henna tattooing?

I just don't care about any of them this year, they've chosen badly and the programme is a disgrace!

i agree usually you have at least one person in there that you really take to straight away and a few that you like one week then not the next. im an easy going person but im finding it hard to truly like these hm this year.i still dont have a firm favourite.

I think a lot of it is down to the selection process. There must have been many more interesting people in the 150,000 applicants than that bunch of ******** (insert whatever word you feel is appropriate). The bars are just making a bad situation worse, they applied for Big Brother, not some dodgy Survivor/Endurance hybrid!

Sarah

P.S. Excuse any spelling mistakes and/or fuzziness of logic, been on the beer watching the footy!

That is my analysis... they tried to change the format too much. A different selection process leading to this bunch of wallies, and the new rich/poor thing - together they have NOT worked for the UK viewer. Change is OK... but why change so radically a format we anticipated and which we have come to thoroughly enjoy, namely the teamwork, the rewards for winning tasks. That kept both us and the HMs entertained, and still enough time left for the sofa chit chats, nominations, evictions and arguments! Too late to go back now?

However the whole thing is a success. The viewing figures are up and we've fallen into the c4 executives hands and are talking about it. So generating more publicity. The whole response will of been predicted by shrinks, and the producers took a gamble putting it into practice and its worked!! More money for them from increased viewing figures for the advertisers. Very clever indeed Channel 4 i congratualte you. I just hope you can keep it going for the remaining weeks. ”

They may get more money from advertisers, but I for one, won't be voting anymore while the divide is up, it's ruined the show!

Are you serious? You think it would be a good idea for the Big Brother producers to end up deep in trouble just 'cause you don't like people being able to walk out of the house? Riiiiiiiight.

All of you who are complaining about how boring it is, why are you still watching? You're hooked, that's why, you want to know what happens. Nobody is forcing you to watch.

Roebuck - you can definitely measure success by viewing figures. Comparing a TV program to what was probably the biggest news event of last year is not a good thing. It is entirely different, the WTC collapse was probably watched by almost everyone at some point last year. Big Brother has a target audience which is different. Would you say the soaps aren't successful even though they have high viewing figures?

I just think the problem really is that nobody knows quite what to expect this year, it's different, and people don't like it.
”

Well I think you have answered your own question in the final paragraph of your posting.

BigBrother is/was advertised as an event, not a soap!, but if a soap fails in its target viewers then its pulled and replaced or amended, it has got to the stage now that Channel4 is not permitting postings that do not support their warped view of success, I do not think the programme is boring, in fact quite the reverse, I do not agree that the contestants signed up for this type of gameshow, which Cannel4/Endemol keep telling us that they have no idea whats going to happen.

The contestants will have signed up for the BigBrother Experience which followed a similar format to previous years, The viewing figures are probably higher because of the controversy which BB3 has generated, nothing to do with whether the programme is good/bad or inderferent.

The producers have made a complete mess of BB3 and should take steps to put it back to something similar to what the contestants and viewers expect.

I don't think that the contestants are bad, i just think that the program should be run differently. Their are crappy tasks when the housemates could be ''Entertained'' with such tasks as the ''Fire Lighting'', ''The Cycle Challenge'' and most of the other tasks from BB1 + BB2. The Poor house Rich house is NOT working, they should scrap the idea and go back the ''Betting shopping money on the tasks'' idea.

It may be bad, but Channel 4 have bought the rights to show it for another 4 years (I think).

To be honest, I do not think that too many errors in the selection process have happened, with the obvious exception of Sunita, I think that was a massive error in judgement by both the selection process and Sunita herself, I did not have too many problems with the others, including Sandy, his gameplay was unorthodox but was quite successful until the bars went up, he then lost complete control of the poor section, where all his allies were.

But the program format has been changed beyond all recognition, its no longer an experience but a nightmare for the contestants, who are beginning to line up, to walk out the back door or over the roof/fence or whatever.

Lets get back to BigBrother as it should be, not this clone of Survivor, Endurance with a smattering of FearFactor.

Sorry about the bump, but I enjoyed reading this. Back when BB had a variety of different housemates, and of course, a person walking out caused mayhem and outrage.

Now it seems to be full of Geordie shore wannabes etc.

It's quite funny because every series that airs gets torn to shreds when it does, then gets looked back at fondly.

Note BB5 and BB6. I was a lurker, and there was a lot of hate for them.

I love this! That's my impression too - every series is the "worst series ever" and there's always a call for a return to the good old days. But it seems the good old days were just as disliked at the time.

Television has changed so much in the 16 years since the first BB started. It makes perfect sense that the show would evolve with the decades.
