These last two weeks, I have been willing Daniel Powter's "Bad day" to be number one, which it would be at any other time, except James Blunt just won't budge!

Are there any classic songs or personal favourites that you think should have made number one, but didn't? Were they kept off number one by something really ridiculous?

Ultravox - Vienna

Kept off first by Joe Dolce - Shaddup You Face, then by Roxy Music - Jealous Guy, and then, adding insult to injury by Shakin' Stevens - This Ole House.

Design For Life - Manic Street Preachers

Kept off the top by that ruddy Return of the Mack song.

I was surprised to find out that Rio by Duran Duran, possibly their most infamous hit, didn't even make the top 5. It went to number 9!

Faithless' 'Insomnia' was number 2 to 'Wannabe' by those Spice Girls, according to their Best Of's inlay. A travesty...

I actually think that this was a wonderful irony.

"We Belong Together" has now been #1 in the USA for 10 weeks, so yeah there was a definately a good chance of it reaching #1 here too.

The Charlatans - Just When You're Thinking Things Over.

I'm sure it ended up about No. 19 but i was sure it would have been No. 1 in a time when it actaully meant something to be at the top of the charts.

Okay this is showing my age and also likley to have seen people feeling like throwing rotton fruit at me but anyway here's my submission:

Summerlove Sensation - The Bay City Rollers.

Couldn't get the lyrics out of my head that summer.

Anyway I still songs like "Always" by Bon Jovi, "Tequila" by Terrorvison and "Speed Of Sound" by Coldplay, there's quite a few singles that should have been #1.

It would be "cool" if Money,Money ,Money went to #1, since then Abba would have had 7 #1s in a row.
I think...

Wonderwall definately! I still can't believe it didn't get to number one. Oh and the Crazy Frog/Coldplay incident was ridiculous, i am not a massive Coldplay fan but anything is better than that nonsense.

Four Minute Warning by Mark Owen made it to the top 4 but should have been number one. Can't remember who was in the top 3 though...

His new single is also very good (Believe in the Boogie - to be released on August 22) - I just hope he'll get more exposure than when "Makin' Out" was released last year.

Media exposure is the only thing that matters now.
