Eccleston to appear in Shadowmancher

On christopher Eccleston Info its says Chris Eccleston has been offered a role in a new film called Shadowmancher.

SHADOWMANCER has been billed as "hotter than Potter"; its scope is much more epic, faith-based and disturbing than the Harry Potter novels. Its based on GP Taylor's book. Its not clear yet if he's playing the baddie or christlike figure in the story.

Dear God this book is sooo awful and is full of Christain propoganda, I hope Christopher has more sense then to star in this crap movie.

Hotter then Potter????? Even Jordans autobiography is more hotter then Shadowmancer.

I think you are going a bit far their. Yes the story appears based on the idea of Jesus, but not one reference is made directly and to call it propaganda and such is way off the mark. It is simple a stroy about this strange person who is connected to a more powerful/higher being who people can call on to help them in tiems of need. But it is a pretty decent story...though the original version of the book (the only version I have read) has a bit of a rushed ending, but the updated version has expanded on this.

However the simialrities to Christ and such like are only because the author is a vicar and people tend to base their ideas on what they already know.

Personally I've been looking forward to this film for quiet a while now and thought maybe it wan't going to be made. With CE on board, in any role I think it would be good.

What with Second Coming and now this it looks like Eccleston could have a bit of a Jesus Christ complex going on!

Personally I liked Shadowmancer. Yes, there's a lot of religious imagery in the book, but no more than say, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or His Dark Materials (though with the latter series it's more an anti-religion slant).

I think it will make a great film, and glad to see Christopher Eccleston on board. Though hopefully with slightly less gurning than he was doing on Dr Who.

I liked Shadowmancer well enough until I heard Mr. Taylor speak at a charity luncheon. He insulted a friend of mine because she had a tounge piercing.

As far as the Christian allegory goes, well, it's definetely there. But comparing him to C.S. Lewis is a far stretch. He completely lacks the beautiful magic and style of C.S. Lewis.

I think Eccleston will be great in Shadowmancer. I hope it is an all British cast, as Taylor said it would be during the speech I heard him give.
